After the undwerwhelming, to say the least, pic of Thomas Jane the other day. Here is some slightly better news.
The Punisher: Marvel rep Kevin Feige talked about the comic adaptation of "The Punisher" to E! Online including its locale and first look - "It's not going to be New York. We've [already] got a lot of heroes in New York, but it will be in an atmosphere where one would expect the Punisher. There's a teaser coming out [with Hulk] that I swear is going to bring the house down, whether you know who the character is or not. He's not a traditional Marvel hero and doesn't have a costume, doesn't have a mask, doesn't require an immense amount of CG to pull off what he does. It's one of the best scripts we have, and it'll be made for a price". Thanks to 'FanHalen'.
So that doesn't seem so bad. After the other Marvel scripts, to say this is the best is a strong statement indeed. I guess we'll have to wait until The Hulk to see for sure.

i think they are just trying to say that not all of their heros are mutants, scientific mistakes, or supernatural beings. Punish is just an excop who saw the system didnt work and is taking justice in his own hands. this is why hes so dam cool he dont fuk around. he steals the bad guys money, makes guns and shit, and kills them b4 they kill him. he also inst just stationary to NYC. He gets around. Actually most of the heros in marvel are from the tri state area/east coast. Fantastic 4, Xmen, spiderman, daredevil, and Avengers. Due to this cluster of near by heros they often inter twine and work together makeing pretty good storys, the best of coasre is the Carnage Saga of Spiderman. Punisher, like the hulk, and ghost rider moved from place to place following their own storys but usually met up with the variouse heros and villians of the marvel universe. 2 of punishers best had to be teaming with spidy, and teaming w/wolverine. He also made many atempts to kill the kingpin's crew and met up with daredevil for some pretty good crossovers. im just saying he may have started off in NYC but he did move all over the place so thats not a big problem for me. if they do their shit right marvel is gonna make it a fukin great movie.

"hey it dont make you a bad person" im just an avid marvel adict who grew up with this shit and enjoy drinking and watching movie with my frineds. im very zealouse about these movies becasue they are my favorite charaters. Spiderman, Xmen, Hulk, Daredevil (even though afleck gayed it up), the Avengers, Fantastic 4, and pretty much most of the marvel universe. pretty much Beer+Good Movies+Friends=great fukin time. i think i represent that view in all my posts. :)

A simple "yes" would have been fine.

Thomas Jane doesn't look like the Punisher. He looks like a fanboy who too it too far. He better be one HELL of an actor because in that picture he looks about as intimidating as a substitute teacher.
No matter how much you polish, decorate or dress up a turd...it's still a turd.

Lets just hope Dolph Lundgren will get the part as Punisher....again.
What was the deal with the guy having a motorcyle in the sewers, and how did he fit it through the manhole?

well I saw the Punisher last night and I have to say that it was much better than I thought it would be and 10x better than the 1989 movie.
That being said, was there not one cop in Tampa? all these murders and you never see a cop or a fireman. what the hell?

I saw it. I liked it, and I'd like to see a sequel....
....but as a reader of the Punisher comics, I have to say that I was sorely disappointed at how LITTLE violence it had. As compared to, say, what it could have had.
Good flick, but I enjoyed Hellboy more.

Don't blame me....I voted for Kodos.
I look forward to an orderly election that will eliminate the need for a violent bloodbath. </center>

Already in preproduction. Thomas Jane has a multi-picture deal.

Not bad. Travolta was annoying as hell.
Glad to see they fit the Russian in. That whole sequence was hilarious.

Except this time he was a cowardly, flamboyant, mincing Babarino.
So he was Danny from "Grease."

Review: The Punisher
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.browntownjohnny.com/index.php
The "revenge" movie is now getting the rave in the theaters. "Walking Tall" and "Kill Bill vol2" are out the same week as "The Punisher" and "Man on Fire" is due this week. I'm real stoked because these movies are a throwback to my teen years in the 70's. Keeping a hard R rating, the Marvel comic master "Punisher" of revenge is about as brutal a live action film that can wet any appetite for blood and bullet movie junkies. Charles Bronson lives on!
Jonathan Hensleigh is a great screenwriter ( Die Hard 3, Jumanji) and he directs for the 1st time (he was the original director of "Hulk"). A pure and simple revenge movie with a sly sense of humor, it's more a homage to past movies than an original crime drama. Frank Castle (Tom Jane is bulked up and ready) is a hotshot FBI agent that sets up the son of Tampa crime king Howard Saint (John Travolta channeling Michael Corleone) only causing his death. In retirement, Saint sends a squad of goons to his family reunion and they kill everyone (his wife, kid, dad, mom) but fail to kill Frank. This sets up the mayhem and carnage for the next hour or so, double crosses and assassins drop like melons off the roof, splat. The gruesome Castle drinks whiskey from the bottle and drives an armored muscle car.
Hensleigh adds a lot of funny set-ups like assassins that seem to come in from other movies...a hitman in black comes into a diner with his guitar case (El Mariachi) to sing a song of death. A huge Russian with a white hair buzzcut (From Russia with Love?) bounces Frank off the walls like a soccer ball (this is the best scene!). Anyhow, it's all in good fun but there is one problem, it's not at all refreshing. Just a remake of about 7 movies (Bo Swenson's 'Breaking Point' was scene for scene), and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos is cast as a slum chick? Oh well, its a comic book! Good support by fat comic John Pinette and Ben Foster (his first adult role) as his new neighbors and Will Patton is Travolta's right hand. Loved so much of this and it works. Good Bloody Work Dammit!

I was hoping Dolph Lundgren would make an appearance too (thought he would be the Russian till I remembered that Kevin Nash was him). I guess I was in the minority in that I thought it was horrible. The worst movie i will probably see this year. I'm kinda a comic fan, not a big Punisher fan (but I did go with one), and just felt it was almost too much like a comic book. In that I mean that in a comic book, lines like the "obituary" one would be acceptable, but watching it happen with actual people acting it out is just really bad. I did like the actual action sequences, and because of that I would say that I would see the sequel. Anytime that anyone said anything though I wanted to vomit. John Travolta and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos lived up to their acting reputations I'd have to say.
The sequel should be a silent movie, and will be much better than the original like X-Men 2 was, but for completely different reasons.
