Why is Metallica called the Godfathers of heavy metal? Wouldn't Black Sabbath get that distinction. I know a lot of bands copied Metallica, but you have to go back to Sabbath first.

Not bad considering what I expect from the usual tripe that MTV pumps out. Let us not forget that Metallica was OURS before they were THEIRS. That being said, I expected it.

They could not have had any breath be made towards any others in the San Francisco scene or thrash/speed scene for that matter. No mention of Slayer or Exodus (Kirk? Hello?), Suicidal (Robert? Hello?) or Flotsam & Jetsam (Jason? Hello?), Trauma (ok, a bit obscure but Cliff? Hello?) or Foridden or Vio-Lence or Anthrax even. I expected not. Maybe they will all be mentioned in the tribute where Metallica goes to hang with people they LIKE.

All I know is right at the very end, the new shit sounded relatively good. I am really REALLY anxious for the record and HOPES they have a new video at least on the Ball on Saturday.

Metallica is friggin dead to me and it had nothing to do with any of the acts that did their cover tunes. I didn't even get 5 minutes into the special when Lars said: The funny thing is that the vision Jason Newstead had for the band is what the band is now so I guess he was like the sacrificial lamb. That statement was so fucking devoid of any kind of class that I said to the screen "Go fuck yourself you're fucking dead to me" and I turned the channel. I was so disgusted. He didn't even have the decency to keep Jason's name out of it. If he left the band then Lars should have let it be. I was disgusted and I personally am done with the band.

No matter how much you polish, decorate or dress up a turd...it's still a turd.

I didnt watch most of it, but every commercial 24 had i flipped it on.
Korn was ok, cept the bass and the guitar completely fucked up the song. They're another band who went down the shiter...only faster.
Limp Bizkit completely ruined sanitarium with that DJ, i kept waitng for him to break into some new stupid limp bizkit shit, it sounded like it was going to.
I heard the first 10 seconds of avril lavigne before i had to flip the channel, you cant have her voice doing fuel...heres why: SHES A GIRL.
Jim B.: I thought he was hilarious, he was dead-on with the voice.
Snoop did a horrific job, yet funny as hell to weatch him.
The reason you like metallica bit blew.
The end was good, im glad they went back to battery, the final song was O.K. Overall they shoulda put in more about jason, HE WAS in the band y'know.
