Tickets for a superbowl is a cash or credit card transaction, payable before you get the tickets. Hotel rooms sometimes require deposits and always require a valid credit card with sufficient balance to cover the bill.

In contrast, large purchase items such as a car, a house or plasma TV are typicallly paid for in installments. If a payment is missed the item can be confiscated.

The creditors take you to court, the court seizes any assets you might have or maybe garnish your paycheck. If that doesn't work, you could face jail time.

The credit card companies pay the vendors (the hotel or the venue you are buying the tickets from). If you don't pay your credit card bills, the credit card company will then take legal action.
