This has been a clarion call for the opposition to the war all along, and it's no surprise the some in the EU, who are in a deadly serious race for supremacy against the US economically, politically, and soon to be militarily, would say things like this. I think this part of the article refutes some of his fear:
The proposal would deposit Iraqi oil revenues in an 'Iraqi Assistance Fund' for humanitarian and reconstruction purposes, to be held by the Iraqi Central Bank, currently managed by Peter McPherson, a former deputy U.S. Treasury secretary.
If that's actually what happens, great. If not, and the US messes with the oil for their own profit, then I will be among those screaming.
