Man. I had to drive my buddy to the Wayne Motor Vehical today.

Now I am not a man to think people are out to get any one or two types of people, but MAN! The ENTIRE place was full of Blacks, Arabs, Latinos and other spanish speaking people. And it was NOT a small majority. It was wall to wall minorities with a white person, like me, dotting the brown landscape.

Now I know that the NJ State Troopers have been brought up on charges of profiling blacks. So is this proof that they still are practicing this, or that the town cops do it still too?

Or is it a reflection on the races there? Maybe they are just generally worse drivers? I really doubt that, but I have to ask the question.

Oh, I'm white and have had my share of tickets. But these people were there for more serious offenses. All the people in the area who get their driving privledges revoked have to go back there to have them restored. This place is a larger office that takes care of more serious shit.

And if you got ticketed so many times that your points keep you from driving, that's your fault. Stop speeding. I got 1 speeding ticket, and I do the limit now. I can't afford to get anymore points.

Yea, I really didn't want to suggest anything either way here. I just wanted more opinion. Maybe these people are just bad drivers. Not EVERYTHING is a conspiracy. In fact, I think most of these cases are trumped up charges of bullshit.

It's just that all the non-white people made me think about the old charges brought against NJ Troopers.

i was just curious because when i was younger (i drove a pontiac GTO) i got so many tickets i had to go to a hearing once in trenton and once in Wayne. but its at the DMV and i didn't really know who was there for what. i have not had a ticket since oct 1990.

it's a tough question! the 2 wrongs don't make a right comes into play here... both minorities and caucasians(for arguments sake) break the law but the minorities who brake the law get arrested and penalized more?

i bet they have a tougher time "making an excuse" to the officers. Their english is broken or they know no english at all. It's easy for the officers to give the ticket to the minority because they cannot communicate well, in turn possibly changing the mind of the officer to allow them just a warning.

I'll bet that cops patrol neighborhoods where more crimes are committed more frequently, which probably happen to be predominantly minority. They probably therefore pick up more minority traffic offenders simply due to their increased presences in those areas. Sampling bias.

it's sad to say, but they are making the stereotypes true. especially now that i see it first hand. it is pretty unreal.

african americans 90% of the time are arrested because of CDS and possession of illigal firearms

porta rickens 90% of the time are arrested do to burglary and assualt

mexicans 90% of the time are arrested to do being illigal in the country & theft.

whites 90% of the time are arrested do to assualt charges and domestic assualt.

It's a double-edged sword. Racial profiling does, unfortunately, exist for very real and statistically proven reasons...sadly, far too many innocent people get swept right along with it, and with the amount of times that this happens, it's a bit too much to just say, "oops! Shit happens..."

So what's the answer? Beats the hell outta me...it's just a shitty, shitty situation, and I'm not sure what a "middle ground" would be here...

Bias? It is generally accepted that the less money you have, the more inclined you are to commit a crime based on greed or helplessness. It is also generally accepted that people within the same income bracket usually live within close proximity to each other. That's not bias, it's just common sense. Go where the crime is. Nothing to do with being black, white, or hispanic. If that neighborhood had a community of poor white people, you'd see the same thing. Watch Cops. It's not all black folk getting shoved into the back of that cop car.

If you have the capacity to purchase what you want/need you are less inclined to take it by force.
