I gave it a chance around midnight tonight and I'm glad I did. I was pleasantly surprised and it is great to hear a fresh show (recorded from the previous night) on a lazy Sunday night. Also, it is fun from the aspect that they are new to the business and content seems to be very spontaneous. If anyone is interested in hearing the show then drop me a line. I'm sure those guys rely on word of mouth and posts like this.

Anyhoo, I think the show sucks, but I like that WJFK is trying. Any show where you get sent to a "holding Cell" (Buzz's Studio) for saying anything ethnic=bad show.

HOW CAN ANYONE WHO SAYS HE EMULATES STERN AND RON & FEZ (AS EL JEFFE DOES), BE SO DEVOID OF COMEDIC TALENT OR HUMOR!? I'VE LISTENED TO ALL HIS SHOWS ON JFK SO FAR AND FIND HIM A STUMBLING AMATURISH NERD, WHO DOESN'T DESERVE TO BE NEAR A MICROPHONE. HE EMITS A NERVOUS HYENA LAUGH WHENEVER HIS SHOW LAGS, WHICH IS ABOUT EVERY 10 SECONDS. THE ONLY THING MORE UNFUNNY THAN EL JEFFE IS HIS CAST OF COHORTS, THAT HE HAS MEANDERING CONVERSATIONS WITH AND USES FOR PATHETIC ATTEMPTED BITS OF COMEDY. HE MAY BE YOUNG, BUT THERE'S NOT A CHANCE HE'S GOING TO EVOLVE BEYOND THIS LAME RADIO SHOW. IF THIS IS THE FUTURE OF COMEDY RADIO THEN LONG LIVE RON & FEZ!

I listened to some of the show via the underground and I thought it was OK. It takes time for a new show to get its legs and it sounds like they have potential but enough with the gay names already El Jeffes, J Dubs and spoon are all stupid radio names that makes them sound like they are in a gay street gang. I don't know how anyone can think that El Jeffe is funny. He is always looking for a laugh and shouldn't get one. For those in the DC area, you know who Elliot is. I rank Jeffe lower than Elliot in the morning. Both shows are a waste of time. Id rather hear old R&F tapes. Hell D&M would be better than Jeffe. The last thing DC needs is a "shock jock" failing again.

Who said R&F like El Jeffe? They are just team players
helping promote another show on the station. Just like they
did the other night with the money guy that's on after them.

For the record...I'm not an el jeffe fan. I listened to parts of
a few shows and he just doesn't make me laugh. I also can't
think of anything great that he has contributed to R&F yet.
Maybe there has been and I just forgot, maybe a el jeffe fan
can point one out.

I'll give them time to find their own voice - what other options do they have Saturday nights? I did turn the station, when I was driving back into town, during their segment a few weeks ago whe El Jeffe played tape of him getting ready to get his jerk on, then afterwards when he completed...not shocking, or cringe, or funny, just lousy.

He's cookie-cutter DJ. Void of any talent. I really dont think that Ron and Fez like him, they just have to put up with him because he's the "intern" they got. The best thing about the interns like Billy, Mikey, Wonderboy, Tenacious C, and Ray Wagner is that they dont have the normal "radio voice", and therefore apeal to us. El Jeffe belongs on K-rock sippin Cane's D.

El jefe mentioned the site on the show, as the place where they are most hated, i kinda laughed.

I think I caught twenty minutes of that on a Saturday night/morning when I was swerving/driving home...a month ago or so, right?

Whenever it was, basically it was Jefe going off on how "all people on the internet don't matter" and how "they don't represent REAL people"...so essentially talking like it's still 1988 and there's only twelve people online.

And with that, he lost me. Not because of what and who he was targeting, but because he had crossed over into the world that ultimately, in MY opinion, sank D&M roughly 5-6 years ago...he's going to act like he hates/is better than the callers/listeners.

I think the main reason I could stick with O&A and R&F is that no matter how bad the caller was, it always seemed in some way or another that the guys on the shows enjoyed having these fans and having them call in and having people who they could laugh with or at. But with D&M (Who I used to think had one of the best radio shows ever until about 1997-98) and The Sports Junkies (Who still put on a killer show, but have always treated the callers like a nonstop parade of time-wasting morons) and now El Jefe, you get that OTHER brand of talk radio...where the hosts decide, whether out of schtick or ego, that they're better than the callers and that even having callers or fans with opinions (Unless they play strictly by the show "rules" or kiss the hosts' asses) is ultimately a nusiance and that besides the numbers they pretty much offer nothing. And that sucks. That's basically the stock and trade of political radio shows, and we all know how awful and pandering those are.

Suck it up Jefe. Some people just aren't going to like you. It's like what you're taught as a kid...if you give the freak kid in class any attention, he'll just keep doing what he was doing, except even worse. Why focus on radiophiles who seem to live and die by what they hear coming out of their speakers? Tough it up, the fans will come...well, they will as long as you don't continually alienate entire segments of possible listeners just because of a few keyboard jockeys.

DON'T CROSS INTO THE D&M EGO-HELL.

There's no return once it has you.

The reasoning behind people not liking El Jefe is that Shock Jock radio is, by and large, dying. It's unfortunate to see someone like him, who does have some broadcasting talent resorting to some of the bits they do on that show. If Jefe would ditch the played out Bubba the Love Sponge style bits he would be radio gold.

Yeah, they do go off on tangents about political issues. And you sound like the people who hate stern and O&A and all the atlk radio I listen to. It's not always potty humor. Sometimes it's just a normal topic.

And I think that a guy studying to become a radio personality would give their testicals to be on the air- whether it's on staturday night or sunday morning. The point is that people know that El jefe and his crew exists, so somewhere down the line he might get a better slot offering.

Personally, I'd kill babies to even be on the radio for an hour.

Well I think a lot of people on this board are being unfair to El Jefe and quick to make a judgement.

1. I loved the NY crew, but I'm not going to hold El Jefe responsible, as he had nothing to do with them not coming to DC.

2. A lot of times it seems to me that Ron pulls Jefe on air; not Jefe coming up to the mic and jumping in all the time.

3. You can't make a fair assessment of a show based on 30 minutes of total listening time. The first few times I heard Ron and Fez I hated them. "What the fuck is wrong with that guy's voice?!?!?! I don't think I can listen to them talking about webpages."

And I loved O&A, but found their show really boring the first month (mon-fri, not just 4 times a month) because they only talked about coming back to Boston.

In order to give Jefe a fair chance a lot of members should listen to his show more to give it a fair chance. If they don't, it's no big deal.

And him talking about the internet not mattering is somewhat of a joke. He encourages people to email him and IM him during the show. If he truely felt that the internet didn't matter he wouldn't bother with it. His comment, in my opinion, are jokingly referring to the Zappa's of the board that have an obsessive hate for him, not the internet as a whole or the board.

Mojo, think about this, El Jefe is so concerned with the people on the internet trashing his show, to the point where it disturbs the show flow and ultimately damages his confidence.

<IMG SRC="http://dcreed.freeservers.com/images/dcrampage.gif">

I agree with DC.. but it kinda goes a little more past that.. Maybe if the show was a little more structured it would flow better.. The free flowing thing is cool for a bit, but there are not set segments, breaks, etc. You never really know when there's a transition, sometimes its a musical break, then commercials. Im not complaining, there's an awful lot of show content less commerical spots (as opposed to say Leykis who was 5 maybe 10 minutes content, 25 minutes commercial spots).

The show does seem to be progressing and growing (dare I say maturing), occasionally this
infighting gets kinda old, but like all shows its
gonna take some time to grow on you. Show number 13 is tonight (07-26-03) (I've lost count how many R&F have done, with all the timeslot shifting, and the dual shifts and whatnot).

See, but we're really comparing apples to oranges. These guys who are doing El Jefe's hideout are basically one or two steps away from being like us. They have little experience under their belt compared to the howard stern crew, or lyekis or ron and fez.

From that point of view, I can understand that they're all over the place. It makes me feel like it's just some guys goofing off around a mic. Now for any other weekday and at any other timeslot, that would not work. But for a saturday night show, it's just fine.

sorry for starting a new post heres what I said. The Hideout, over the past few months really gotten alot better. It's now become a staple of my Saturday night. The anniversiry show wasn't bad they did alot of stuff for their listeners and brought back the fantasy draft. Jefe and Dubbs now desirve to be on 5 days a week and i'd love to hear them overnights after Ron and Fez. I think they could get alot of listeners.

I don't listen that often, but if I think about it, and I'm out and about, I'll tune in. I like both guys and can usually put up with anything they can throw out there. They really do remind me of when The Junks first started (and they were on once a week, on WJFK weekends, for a full year before promoted).

One of two things will hopefully happen before their 2nd annivesary...

* The Hideout is put on late night 5 nights a week, right after Ron and Fez; 11pm - 3am. Or maybe 2am, since it might be tough to sell ads for a 4 our late night show like that.

* The Hideout replaces Ron and Fez at nights, coming after Don and Mike, if R&F move to middays 11am - 3pm. With O'Reilly doing well in the ratings, though, that might be difficult to get rid of him from JFK.

Of course, if Ron and Fez do leave WFJK when their contract expires, like many speculate, then it would make sense to pop The Hideout into their evening spot anyway. Hopefully that won't happen. I don't think Dubs or Jefe would want to get 7-11pm that way.

Comparing the Hideout show to the Junkies is a slap in the face to real talent. The Junkies are genuinely funny guys, while the Hideout gang are constantly trying to convince listeners they have something humorous to say. What happened to the "three giggles a show Hideout guarantee" (or whatever the hell it was). That died a fast death because they know they're not even capable of that. And tell us again El Jefe (with your over inflated ego), how you "have the potential to make millions in radio". Is that the same empty boast like your Dallas Mavericks are "going to the finals this year".... OUT IN THE FIRST ROUND!......Kind of like your boxing match with J Dubs.

Yeah, jerkin' off Cameron Gray.

I'm actually glad they will be following Ron and Fez every night starting May 3rd. Now more listeners can finally hear just how annoyingly bad the Hideout show is. I don't see how anybody who appreciates the comedic genius of Ron anf Fez, could possibly think that El Jefe and J Dubs deserve a radio show in any market.

I've just got to ask all you congratulators and supporters of the Hideout:
What's the humorous intention behind their favorite joke about pushing a woman down a flight of stairs? Is this some new generation laugh inducer, because they keep harping on it and the comedy escapes me. Maybe it's because El Jefe has dreams at night about being a serial killer (I've never had dreams like that) which make this more disturbing to listen to than funny. When their idol Stern talks about abusing women, the absurdity is evident. The Hideout gang trying to mimic this material, just come off sounding deranged.

I'll probably be catching this show much like I did Ron and Fez when they were on in the 11pm slot. Random times in the car, Friday nights when i'm heading out somewhere. But it will be more than I caught it while it was on Saturdays--which was at most 4 times over the past year.

Of course I listen to the fastest hour in radio at 11AM, so i'm more inclined to turn the radio off at 10PM and turn on the TV or fall asleep or something, so they have that working against them.

These cretins simply have no comedic instincts or enough wit to carry a show, especially when the masters of entertainment-- Ron and Fez-- precede them.

Today driving on the parking lot that is 95-South at rush hour, I caught D&M and heard them talk to "Jefe" (who Don loves to call by his real name, Alex). It was actually a funny conversation, but what came out of it is that Jefe works 13 hours a day straight on through!

He's there by 1pm to work on the 2pm D&M best of, then he pitches in to help on their show from 3-7, since they are now between producers, THEN he works Ron and Fez from 7-11, and then finally it's his own show.

DAMN!

Don and Mike complimented him, and added that he's getting a lot of good experience working on the two shows.

Last night, the gang-expert piece was okay, though not
very filling; good to see Jefe try to get out of the

I have really been enjoying the hell out of The Hideout lately! Especially last night, with R&F doing best of all week, it's great to hear some original programming at night. I think they have found their groove - their own voice.

It still has some of the more independent edges of the Saturday night show, but with a more polished, professional presentation. "The Comedy Dumplings" was pure gold, and the interview with J Dub's sister was hysterical.

And now that it's on after R&F, and the fact that they work on R&F, it has a great cross-over appeal, and both Ron and Fezzy seem to enjoy the back and forth aspect. Only at The Hideout can you learn what "Cigar Sid" does on weekends, or how "Skellington" has moved on since WB left for the beach.

From DCRTV: Please someone explain to me how in hell this EL JEFE got such a foothold on the WJFK airwaves. Now he's even co-hosting the Redskins aftershow with Charles Mann, having absolutely no credentials to do so. Number one, he's from Texas and is an acknowledged Cowboy lover/Redskins hater. He tries to suppress his true distaste for the Redskins (even lies about it on his Hideout show), but it always comes through in his slanted comments. With all the devout Redskins fans who actually have professional broadcasting ability and a real sports acumen, it's a travesty that this is the clown WJFK chooses to include in their game summary show. The only thing he's good for on the show is to introduce commercials. His high pitched (male?) speaking voice makes Charles Mann sound like Vin Diesel in comparison. The effeminate tonal qualities are perfect for his "DRENCHED IN GAYNESS" Hideout show and may take him far on the dragqueen circuit (not that there's anything wrong with that!)
Speaking of the Hideout show, what audience exactly is this amaturish dribble attempting to reach? The best I can surmise, that it's for 10 year old boys who are future Democrats.
Keep pushing your boytoy Cameron Gray and when's that daytime slot coming? It's certainly well deserved. I need to hear more dildo sword fights on the radio! (with Jefe's girlish laughter in the background) .....pure creative genius as always.

Thanks for the compliment Mikey! I only wish I was so articulate. I think it was signed from someone named Bateman.

From DCRTV:
The Washington Redskins front office, Cameron Gray and Allen Limwaud couldn't screw in a light bulb. Not one of these idiots could possibly be listening to this s#@&! Especially the post game with Charles [Duh is a word I like] Mann and someone who sounds and acts like he's 14. This is this type of crap Daniel [Gerber's is good] Synder paid millions for? WJFK is a joke! Paul (8/29/04)

This guy doesn't even know who El Jefe is and he hears the same thing I do......someone who never deserved to be on the radio in the first place. I have no connection to any emails on DCRTV. The masses are starting to speak.
