they're still a band, you do whatever you can to get the sound that you need. if it takes a computer than so be it.

but how they would do that live is another story. but yeah they are still a band.

yes, only because it isn't one guy doing everything. most industrial is done by a band, unless its Wumpscut whose just a single performer who doesn't tour.

If its used top make the band as a whole sound better, or to make someone sound like whitney houston, then it isnt a band. But if its just to make it sound a little bit better, then it still is a band. I like the new White Stripes album Elephant (best album ever) because they recorded it to a 12 track and it sounded great.

Hold on now guttersnipe. I don't swimg the Mode's way if you get my drift.

I am a traditionalist. I play in a band tha plays instruments, and prefer bands that do the same.

But that is NOT to say that electronic and computer driven musicians can't make good music. I must admit it's not usually my style, but I've heard a lot of it that's pretty good.

So yes. Computer driven music can be called a "Band." But it would probably be more accurate to just identify the one person doing the work if it's a one man show kind of thing.

the reason i asked is because my friend and i just started a "band" is him on gui-tar and me singing, the rest is done on the computer.. its an industrial/metal band and i always felt a band isnt a band unless all instruments are played.. im trying hard to brace this computer deally..

oh and for live gigs we have a guy to play the files..

I know. When I saw in that guy's hair thread that you
had a chick in your band, I finally went to your site.
Good stuff, man. Any band with a chick bass player is
a-ok in my book. I used to play bass.

And for the record, even this new (old)
wave/electronica/techno/trance chick has a great deal
of respect for bands like Slayer. I gotta be in the right
mood, but goddamn do they rock my panties off.
