After Nash gets done staring down HHH, he goes over to check on Flair. While he's over there Shawn Michaels' music hits and here comes HBK with a ton of wrestlers (face and heel) in street clothes from the back. The crowd doesn't know what's going on until they all arrive and start hugging Flair. Austin's music hits. He slides in one side of the ring and out the other to get a cooler of beer. He takes one to Flair. Then goes to get more for the other wrestlers in the ring.
Now Stephanie McMahon's music hits and she comes down to hug Flair. Now Shane McMahon's music hits! Shane O'Mac! He comes dancing down the ramp to come congratulate Flair. Next it's Vince. He comes down walking hurriedly and intensely gets in the ring and stares down Flair before cracking a bit of a smile and hugging Flair.
HHH comes back out next. When he gets in the ring, everybody goes to each side of Flair. While HHH stares down Flair his cheers turn to boos. But the boos went to cheers (biggest pop of the night) when he took the belt and placed it on Flair's shoulder and raised his arm. All the guys then took Flair up on their shoulders and carried him around the ring.
The crowd is yelling "speech, speech, speech," and a teary-eyed Flair obliges. He says he's made a lot of memories here in Greenville (he wrestled here virtually every Monday night back in the day). He thanks the fans and his fellow wrestlers and says they've been the greatest to work with and he's never been happier than his time spent with them the past couple of years.

Cool, if you were lucky enough to be in attendance.
Too bad it was not on television but of course that would fuck up their storylines, dammit!

They seem to do always something extra for the fans who pay in attendance. If you remember Austin's first appearance back was off camera after raw went off the air.

I like that they give something extra to the fans that actually go to the show. It makes the live show that much more memorable

Wow, I have chills just reading that(would have been tears if not for HHHIV's grandstanding and mugging) They definately should have shown that ending on TV, but with Flair going over for the title. I do hope they do a proper Flair DVD(hopefully a 3 or 4 disc boxset of ALL the noted matches), and would put something like that on the DVD, I"m sure the cameras were still rolling. Just great stuff there!

Very cool stuff. It's about time they gave Flair the respect he deserves. I wonder if Jim Ross was angry due to the treatment he always gets in Oklahoma?

Is it possible for him to do anything wihtout being criticized for it. It is so obvious in HHH's character how much he respects Ric Flair. He even looks like ric flair with the suits and sunglasses.

Ah yes, you can tell how much he respects Ric, what with Flair being his complete toady these past few months, and Flair having to put over HHH as the greatest wrestler alive every time Rick happens to open his mouth. Oh, and going over Flair cleanly in Ric's hometown after Flair bears his fucking SOUL in the ring just to pull Trips lame (in more ways than one) ass to a good match....yeah, I can see how he respects the man.
You know, somebody on the websites (it might have been Keith, or maybe that asshole Eric S.) brought up a good point, which I think may be true: HHH probably feels that HE has been giving FLAIR the rub these past few months of their association, despite the fact that Trips will never even be a TENTH of the worker that Flair was / is today.

I couldn't have said it better myself se7en, right on man. And I DEFINATELY agree regarding HHHIV thinking he's giving Flair the rub. He's turned the greatest worker ever into JJ Dillion. Which I have no intrinsic problem with, Flair is old now, but the fact that he has to suck his ass all the time is what's really grating.

Aw, that's nice and those are nice pictures. Wish I could have seen it in person. Unfortunately, I don't live there.

Well, it could've been worse. He could've been given an O'Douls.

I may be more sensitive than others, but it's because I'm very passionate about Flair.
It just pisses me off to no end.
Flair is probably the greatest North American wrestler AT LEAST in the last 30 years - possibly the greatest North American pro wrestler of all time. This is a man who virtually carried the NWA on its back for a better part of a DECADE (in the 80s). He's a legend. And STILL, old (by wrestling standards) and past his prime, he's a better worker than most of the "new" breed of star out there.
To see the WWE take this man, who has more respect for and has done more in his life for the business of professional wrestling than almost anybody - who has CERTAINLY done more for the business (positively) and has more respect for it than Vince McMahon himself - to take him and essentially turn him into a fucking JOKE, a lackey to the epitome of all that is fundamentally WRONG with not just the WWE but the business in general, a man who will NEVER hold a candle to the Nature Boy, who will NEVER be qualified to hold Flair's jock strap no matter if Ric is his boyhood idol.....it just saddens and depresses and ANGERS me to my core.

One of the things that makes Flair a great MAN and not just a great wrestler is that the greatness of others is no threat to him. Flair is a 16 time world champion which means he LOST that sumbitch 17 times. This is a guy who put RONNIE GARVIN over. The fact that Triple H is so scared to let go of that belt because someone might upstage him and expose him for the fraud that he is, is sad. Then again a roid freak who wants to be called "The Cereberal Assassin" is sad any way you slice it.
Drugs weed out the weak and dependent.
