Rocker Charged with Cocaine, Heroin Possession
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Rocker Scott Weiland (news), the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots, has been charged with cocaine and heroin possession in Los Angeles, two years after completing a jail term for violating his probation on the same charges, prosecutors said on Tuesday.

Weiland, 35, and Jennifer Lynn Sires, 29, were stopped by Burbank police shortly before midnight on Saturday after officers saw them driving without lights in a shuttered retail district.
They were arrested after police noticed a syringe in the car, and a search of the vehicle yielded cocaine and heroin, a police spokesman said.
Weiland was released from jail on Sunday after posting $25,000 bail. He was scheduled to be arraigned on June 2.
Sires, who faces a heroin possession charge, was scheduled to be arraigned later on Tuesday.
Stone Temple Pilots has been on hiatus since cutting its 2001 album, "Shangri-La Dee Da," and its members were reportedly pursuing individual projects.
Weiland's drug problems date back to the mid-1990s, when he was arrested for heroin and cocaine possession. The band was forced into hiatus in 1999 when Weiland was jailed for violating his probation and failing to complete drug rehabilitation.

OK, I've never been high on heroin but if you are about to get pulled over (and you see sirens) don't you get RID of the fucking evidence? At least not leave it out in open view. Jeez, he deserves to get caught, he needs help.

I don't think he really gives a shit what anybody else thinks about him....nor should he. Right now he's living life on his own terms and if he wanted to make music instead of being a heavy drug user, he'd make music, but that's not really what he wants to do right now. Sure there's a good chance he might wind up dead sometime soon (he's been skating on thin ice for years now) but the fact of the matter is that's what he wants to do with his life right now.

I'd agree with you except for the fact that he was busted while driving a car. What if he had caused an accident and killed someone while he was high?

What a shame. STP were one of the better bands to come out of the 1990's. I was supposed to see Weiland at Irving Plaza in NYC in 1998, but he was arrested that day. If doesn't clean up his act, he's going to suffer the same fate as Layne Staley.

Where in the report does it say he was high while driving?

He already recorded a couple songs with the ex-band from G'nR (Slash et al), and I think they came out on a two different soundtracks...under the name "The Project"? Anyone hear them?
Man, I am tired of hearing this news, mostly because I REALLY like Weiland (Even have his solo album) and STP...I'll readily admit that STP were one of the most derivative of the "grunge" bands at first, but they REALLY stumbled onto an awesome sound of their own with the third album, "Tiny Music From The Vatican Gift Shop"...they were starting out on a MASSIVE world tour when all the drug problems first blew up in their face and Scott had to serve time. They've just never been the same since then...though "Sour Girl" is easily one of my favorite songs in the last five years...

the man's got demons, what're you gonna do?
derivative or not, Core and Purple rock to no end. Weiland's got a voice that could rival any of rock's immortals.
Where in the report does it say he was high while driving?
It didn't. My point was that I could care less if he all he wants to do is get high -- just stay at home and do it.
He was driving around with no lights. Not smart or safe.

I agree. But I also am a big fan of "Tiny Music". I love that album. I think it's very underrated.

I just don't think he ever will learn until it's too late. Unfortunately I think he'll end up being another rock star ti o.d. and die. And it's a shame because he's very talented.
