Last night [May 19] they were discussing addiction to booze, xanax, etc. et al.
Thought I'd show what I did [blatant gloat]
Left: Me a bit more then a year ago; 6 foot 5; 365 pounds: Fat, Drunk, and Miserable.
Right: Taken yesterday. Still fat, sober, same height; but 292.
Got a ways to go....

Good job man, don't minimize it with the 'got a ways to go'. 70 pounds IS a long ways.

Mike's 100% Fool-Proof Diet

Some truth first:

1. This diet isn't "Easy" like the others claim
2. You Will be hungry on this Diet, unlike the others claim
3. This diet will get boring
4. It won't work for most
5. No such thang as a 100% Diet

I went from 363 pounds to 292 in a year on this; 70+ pounds.

Step 1: Eat a lot less of whatever you're eating. The result of this will inevitably be, no matter What the others say, a feeling of Hunger.

Step 2: Stay Hungry

Step 3: Do absolutely NO exercise whatsoever.

Step 4: While you're contemplating the fact that you don't have to do any exercise whatsoever, go outside and walk. I was so fat I had to start with seeing how many times I could walk up and down my driveway before my back started shooting pains. If you can do that, walk more. If you can do that, walk on more days.

Step 5: My diet Menu:

Monday: Eat less during the day, be hungry, and eat a Chicken Breast with some Salad for Dinner.
Tuesday - Sunday: See Monday.

When you get bored with the food; try using a spoon to eat the Chicken. That won't be boring. If you want a Big Mac EAT ONE! But then deal with it and adjust; don't wig out like I used to and say 'oh well so much for that' and then binge. Want some chocolate HAVE SOME! Just don't eat a pound.

Step 6: Realize all the hunger, boredom, ennui, and moodiness is a sign that you're body is Out of Balance. And you're losing fat.

Step 7: Do something about the boredom, ennui, and moodiness. Like clean the toilets in your house.

Step 8: Sit quietly for a while each day. I'm not talking any Transcendental Medi-whatever, I mean find a quiet place, and a comfortable place to sit, turn off the TV, radio, kids, etc. Some say to try to "Do Nothing, as Much as you Can" for this time. That's exactly the idea. Start with 10 minutes. Try and quiet your mind; get rid of all the thoughts flying around up there. If you can't, play a song in your head. Anything so that you can stay seated. Now while you're doing this, think about each part of your body and try to relax it. Try to recognize the tension and let go of this. Doing this every day was the toughest part, and the most important.

Step 9. Say Good-Bye to Booze. If this is difficult, you may have a problem. It was a problem for me early on. 100% give-up? Well, that brings us into the whole `can you handle just a couple drinks once in a while'. But man oh man, alcohol is basically sugar. Beer is basically liquid bread. What's a can of beer? 150 cals? [not sure here] well then the six-pack = 900 cals.

Step 10: Weigh yourself as often or as little as you want. And then realize the numbers mean absolutely Nothing.

Step 11: Realize this is gonna be a slow, boring, often difficult, sometimes painful.

Step 12: Go out and buy a pound of ground beef. Freeze it. One Pound. Study it. Look at it. Now, realize if you lose ONE SINGLE POUND you have that much less yellow adipose chicken around you and your organs.

If the above sounds masochistic, or like I'm bragging or something. I'm not. Quite the opposite. I just got so sick of breaking into a sweat every time I moved more then two muscles at once. And not being able to buy normal clothes. Or go for a walk with my wife.
Hungry sucks; and eating is such an easy short-term solution.
I wish I had something clever to say about this rant, but.

There was no text because there was no pic. It's been so long, I forgot how to post a pic. Finally figured it out and once there, it was rant time...

Anywho... Atkin's diet is a great idea; but some can get Hyperlipidemia; which is wayyyyy to much fat in your blood, which for some is unhealthy.

But then again, so is me weighing as much as I did, and do.

I really love Tuna [insert joke here] so actually I eat a lot of that too. Actually I eat pretty much what I want, just a lot less. The chicken only thing helped me get to a point where I didn't break into a sweat after cracking my knuckles.
