I went on my second school trip for my son's class today. And I've learned a couple of things. First, kids are loud and annoying. And second, kids smell funny. Do they bathe in pencil shavings and erasers? And they fart a lot also. Why do my wife and I want to have more of these smelly creatures?

My mother just took her kindergarten class on a school trip to the Land of Make Believe. She was happy that a lot of parents came to help her watch the kids.

Oh GOD don't get me Going!

In almost a decade of teaching I've had to attend so many school dances, pep rallies, football games, plays, school band stuff....

...and [shudder] The Proms!!!!!

Hmmmm...how many girls have i seen tell their date to go fuck themselves...how many guys have i seen get in shoving matches...how many students have i seen spend days and Serious $$$ getting ready to look perfect, and they're all sweating like pigs and the hairstyles have fallen an hour into it from the dancing and lights and heat.

One time a student thought it would be a hoot to bring a dozen white lab-rats and release them during dinner. And this was a senior prom in a very ritzy place. The owners of the Restaurant weren't amused.

And yes kids smell; but some teachers smell too. My Algebra teacher would get in our faces checking our homework and asking stuff, and his breath smelled literally like he had just eaten a Shit Sandwich.

And SuperClerk, you Rock for going on a class trip. It's so hard to find parents to help.

Oh man what fun it is to get on a yellow bus again to chaperone 9th graders to a place they have Absolutely NO interest in....

Oh well... those who can't...

Thank you Mike. I'm just trying to be a good father. I normally don't mind going. I just hate having to wake up so early. I'm not used to that.

I loved school trips and I only talked my mom into being chaperone for one in elementary school because all the parents that came on the trips bought their kids souveniors, and that's all I wanted. :)

Amazing that this topic shows up today. Just yesterday
I went with my son and his Kindergarten class to the
Westmoreland Berry Farm. Rained on us the whole
time, but damn, those were the best strawberries I've
ever had, right off the stem. Yum. Too bad my son
hates strawberries. Oh well, more for me and his
sister.

But I am still recovering from the trip. I was so
exhausted just being around all those kids (and my
own little hellraiser) that I actually fell asleep on the
bus back even with all the commotion and noise.
