Don't worry, Bush's replacement is already hard at work winning over the public...

I wasn't a big fan of her as the governor, but it was kinda nice to have a Jersey person in a high profile position. Plus, she didn't kiss Bush's ass too much.

good. i didn't like her. it had nothing to do with her politics or policies, i didn't like her personally. I had to work with her on a few occasions. very picky and petty.

When people jump ship left and right, that means the government's doing really well, right?

doesn't it?

I wouldn't say "people are jumping ship". The Administration is switching into campaign mode and they asked those who wished to resign to do so now or wait until after the 2004 elections.

It's not uncommon for there to be a lot of turnover in an Administration. There really haven't been a lot of Cabinet-level resignations even though it's rare for Secretaries to stay through 8 years. If I remember correctly, I think only Reno and Shalala lasted all 8 years of the Clinton Presidency.

It wasn't hard to see this one coming a mile away, at least here at the NJ shore.

Whitman's record here on the environment wasn't exactly stellar, water and ocean dumping issues for example, and when Bush picked her to head the EPA and she resigned the Governorship; many thought Bush had just hired the Governor of arguably the dirtiest state in the nation to protect the environment.

True or not; I think she made a mistake taking the job.

I know I am speaking only on the basis of generalities and stereotypes, but as Republicans go, Whitman was a huge supporter of the environment. I personally think Bush was just tired of having an EPA chief who would oppose him so much and make him look bad. But that's just my opinion.

Whitman was a huge supporter of the environment.

Honestly, are there people who are huge protestors of the environment? Are there really people out there like the enemies that Captain Planet and the Toxic Crusader had to deal with? Cold hearted evil beings laying out the plans to FILL THE WORLD WITH SMOKE AND MAKE BODIES OF WATER MURKY!!!!

Quit playing with my words. You know exactly what I mean. There are people who would do anything for profit, and that includes poisoning the environment, and there are plenty of money and power hungry politicians more than eager to help them.

It's not that anyone has to be out to "get the environment" when it's oh-so-much easier to simply not care or have a, "this won't be a problem in MY lifetime" mentality...

I don't know why nobody saw this coming:

Bush was either going to fire her or jump her bones. Hmm, maybe he did both......

furie

judging by the look on her face, she saw both coming too.
