Ive heard that if you play the dark side of the moon, it goes together with the scenes from the wizard of oz. Is this some urban myth or is this true? has anybody in this forum tried it?
Kinda makes you think when the #1 rapper is white and the #1 golfer is black

It's definitely not a myth. My friends and I tried it and the parallels were way beyond coincidental. The first time we did it we synced it up perfectly, however, we haven't been able to do it quite as closely again. If I remember correctly you're supposed to hit play on the cd and immediately pause it, then on the third roar of the MGM lion before the movie starts hit play on the CD and let it roll. If you do it right it's really unbelievable.
I used to do a little, but a little wouldn't do it, so a little got more and more. I just keep trying to get a little better, a little better than before.

It's not a midget, it's one of the big birds wandering around in that scene.

Haven't tried it yet, but I keep meaning to. Everytime I
manage to find the Wizard of Oz DVD, and clean the
tiny, greasy fingerprints off it, I can't find The Dark Side
of the Moon. And then when I finally find DSOTM the
kids have hidden the WoOz in someplace like the
refrigerator.
But from what I understand, and have heard from
others, it really is uncanny. Do a search on google for
"dark side moon wizard oz" and you'll find a lot of links
about it.

We tried this once. I guess there is sort of something there. Nothing major though.

i remember trying it in high school, but the whole thing seemed off; and our attention spans were greatly decreased- never made it through the whole time. here's a little reserch, wizard of oz is over twice as long- check the run times(101 minutes vs 42:59 minutes):

You are supposed to put Dark Side on Repeat All, so that it starts over halfway through the movie. Tried it, interesting, but no real connection except in a pothead's mind...

IT'S just a coincidence. A friend of mine proved that Wizard of Oz also syncs up with the B-52's greatest hits. try it.

At the State Theater here in Falls Church they had a Pink Floyd tribute band play along with a showing of the movie a few weeks ago. I did not go but that could have been cool to see.
We need everyone to keep spreading the word about Ron and Fez. Get you friends, coworkers, hell anyone you talk to get them to listen.

I haven't tried the Floyd-OZ thing. Mainly because I don't have Oz, and was never a big fan of the movie.
I have tried "Willy Wonka" and Rush's "2112" though. It does work!
Start "2112" at the moment Wonka first walks out to welcome the winners. When he goes to grab his cane for the second time (right before he tumbles and stands up) hit play on 2112.
It only really works with the title track. So it's only a 20 minute sync.
By the way, the new SACD remaster of Dark Side is great! ;)

It would probably work with any song you wanted to use, you just have to use your imagination. A really great thing to do is hit play at the moment Toto jumps out of the basket on that old lady's bicycle, and synch that up with when the alarm goes off in the song, "Time." Fucking amazing.
