Over the years whenever i got a car I bought them. However this time I am thinking about leasing. Id like to get some opinions from anyone who has leased

Leasing is NO GOOD, especially right now, unless you find a KILLER lease deal.
Basically, leasing boils down like this...
If you commute more than 10 miles a day, don't lease. Banks will KILL you on overages on mileage, especially with how much the economy is doing.
If you decide to lease, realize these things:
1) Don't lease over 36 months. You don't want to be paying for something for longer than the warranty. 39 is borderline acceptable, but that's it.
2) Make sure that you lease between 12K and 15K miles a year. My last truck, I leased at 15K, and that was working very very close to home, and I was still a few thousand miles over.
3) Make sure you know how much you're paying overage wise. Anything more than 15-20 cents is a rip.
On those "great" lease deals, make sure you get in WRITING how much out of pocket you're putting down. You never want to put more than inceptions down... figure 2-3 thousand bucks, that's it.
You are so better off getting a car with zero percent APR than leasing. More for your money in the long run.

It depends on how much driving you intend on doing.
You absolutely MUST have a firm grasp on the amount of miles you will be driving per year.....this is essential.
I leased my last car and was over somewhat and ended up paying about 700 in excess miles. HOWEVER....this time I am already over with a year to go....so I anticipate some fairly insane charges when I turn in my car.
The moral is..... if you drive alot.....then buy. If you can keep under a certain amount of miles......then leasing is awesome. You get a new car every 3 years or so....it rocks.

Leasing is stupid. You never own, so you will always be paying and paying.
Stupid.

if you don't mind renting a car for 3 years, then go for it.

I've leased and owned and if you can afford to buy a car right, it is the way to go.
However, with a decent van or car costing in excess of $30,000 leasing is often the best choice.
Every three years you get a brand new car, which is around the time you start to get sick of the car anyway.
All work during the time you have the car (except routine maintainance like oil changes) are covered by warranty.
If you fall in love with the car you can extend the lease or purchase it, although almost everyone I know chooses the new car.
The amount of annual milage allowed is negotiable as is the end of year purchase price.

I agree. Leasing is just a gimmick to get you to keep in a state of perpetual payment When you add up the cost of interest over many years, it far excedes any repairs you would have made on a car you would have purchased. For people to keep their head above water, Id recommend staying away from "renting" and just buy a good car. Usually a business person would want to lease because they can write off the cost as a business expense (aka- loss!). Who needs to be in debt?

Figure the average life of a car. The amount you have to put down for it, the amount you have to finance, the amount of interest you pay, and the resale value, if any when you want to get rid of the car.
It's no wonder so many people lease!
Still, if you have the money, it's better to buy outright, so long as you don't have to finance, which can be compared to "renting" to the same extent as leasing

If you lease can you put mods and shit on the car and costomize it, or just one of those gay trees on the mirror?
