I don't have any of those cute little stories, just an answer would be nice. Not asking for much.

a "no outlet" could end with a cul-de-sac or some kind of roundabout where one could feasibly turn their car around- a dead end is just an abrupt cessation of roadway
I could be wrong *shrug*

No outlet means you're going to have a hard time plugging in your electrical appliances.
No, really, I think actaully a dead end is a street where the street ends with no cross streets, whereas no outlet means that although there may be cross streets, once you go in the only way out is to turn around and come back the way you went.

sorry for the use of recursion in my answer:
dead end - road that terminates ahead
no outlet - road with other roads off of it, which in turn are all either no outlets or dead ends
basically no outlet leads to a neighborhood that has several streets, and only 1 way in and out.

No Outlet = no place to plug your toaster
Dead End = the results of not using the proper conditioner.
OK, really the terms are very similar.
No Outlet means "no exit" either physically or emotionally (as in no way to cathartically vent or express feelings).
Dead end can also mean "no physical exit" but it is also used to conote "no means of advancement" like a dead end job, or a line of reasoning that leads nowhere.

I think they were just talking about the two kinds of street signs, HK...but amusing nonetheless...

dead end- usually you can see a sign while seeing the end of the road, sooner than later
no outlet- longer, but doesn't connect to another street
from exprience, but nothing to back it up.
am i missing something underlying?
