It could have...but why not start a new one? It's a new article. I mean we don't have one single thread for everything regarding one issue. Who are you anyways...the thread police?

Good article about the WMD search. Technically we've already found enough that would prove a breach of UN resolutions with those suspected bioweapons trailers. Even if they aren't bioweapons trailers (we don't know for sure), they do constitute a breach. Is that enough? I'd say no.

For one, they might not be bioweapons trailers. If they found any actual bioweapons produced, I'd say that is enough. They haven't yet, and if Saddam made and destroyed them, that only proves that the inspection process was working. So the trailers by themselves, IMO, don't mean a lot.

can you tell me of a time ever where officials ever told the truth? ever in the history of government, not just in the u.s.

by having a foothold in iraq, we are able to hunt out our enemies - terrorists. really, what do these anti-american groups want? power over a populace. we're cutting that off at the source by being present in the mid east, and giving the people the option to choose.

it might be self-interested but what's wrong with dismantling regimes that promote racism, misogamy, and totalitarianism?

It's gonna take a little more time to determine if these trailers are WMD producers or not, true. Even if they are, it's not the overwhelming proof that Powell and Bush said they knew about, so I personally want to see evidence of more. Much more. It does seem to show that at least some of the pre-war intel was correct, and with that in mind I will continue to hold out hope that the rest of it was sound as well.
Hbox, I appreciate that you made this small concession, and I am not being snide when I say that. I am glad that some of the people on this board are willing to keep an open mind and admit when things go the other way (or at least seem to head that way). I respect that.

Supposedly they had enough to kill us all, right? Iraq was such a big, scary threat to The Homeland that we had to go and remove their government without delay.

They can't even find a Ryder truck full of manure.

Here Bush responds to criticism about not finding WMDs. I really think he's trying to make too much of these trailers. The trailers we've found, by themselves, aren't capable of making weapons, if that even was their purpose.

FiveB247

It remains to be said what is definate, might be and possibly a discovered WMD (time will tell and show the facts). But for anyone to ever try to argue the fact that Bush overstated his case for war is unsettling at the least.

You're right, Five.
It's one thing to overstate your case in a debate or campaign speech, it's something else to exaggerate cuz you want to go to war so damned bad that you'll say anything to get it, you'll damage ties to other countries whose help we need in the war on terrorism, plus get a bunch of America's best killed in the process.
Now that we've whupped Iraq's ass, does anyone feel any safer?
