yes that action pisses me off quite a bit, because i'm running with a 56k modem (yes the ancient dial-up) and i always think its a pic. it friggin pisses me off so much. god now i have to play counterstrike agains the ai bots

Or we can take up many post boxes to convey that we have different things on our mind when...just doens't relay that to the reader. Why discourage people's freedoms of style and expression? Why make fun of others way of delivering their message? Why not encourage people to write in as many various styles

I find it so fucking hypocritical and incredible that this thread comes up days after a board member passed away and people said to each other that we should all be more sensitive with one another and not be so negative towards others and/or other's posts or styles on the board. Yet here we fucking are. A few measly fucking days after Circus Boy's picture was taken down and we're back to bitching and belittling each other in cruel and insensitive ways through the oh-so brave medium of anonymous computer posts. I'm sorry for not being funny here. And I'm sorry that this thread will probably be locked but for those of you who have serious esteem problems and have to sit as kings behind your computer desk and be so fucking judgemental I hope some day you recieve the same mean treatment that you give out.

It has absolutely nothing to do with trying to write a "long" reply.

That's absurd.

It's a form of timing when all you have to work with is the visual of words on a page.

You'd boo a comedian off the stage if his timing sucked even if his jokes were funny.

This "..." doesn't leave enough time in between the last thing and the next thing your eyes read on the page.

Whether or not it becomes a rule that we can't do it, I'm not arguing. It doesn't matter to me.

East Side uses it a lot and, in my opinion, is one of the funniest posters on the board. Obviously, we all have different senses of humor and are amused by a variety of things, so others may not agree with this statement. I, although not as often as him, use it, too. I do it to add to whatever joke I'm trying to make and, hopefully, make you guys laugh. I don't post to read my own crap.

Personally, if people are writing long replies becuase they think it makes others more likely to read it, don't. I'll most likely pass over a long-ass reply unless it's written by someone who has already established themselves, in my mind, as worthy of reading a lengthy reply/post. Most of my replies are short and sweet. I get out a joke. Hopefully, someone laughs. End of game.

Anyway, I wasnt trying to be negative or bringing down the joy. All I asked was why.

I understand what alkey and ADF said about the comic effects and what not, but seriously "..." and a skiped space or two can do the trick.

But that's just my feelings, and as I see others do find it annoying.

Ok, I had to reread the posts since someone claimed people were being "negative" meanie a holes. I see no evidence of that. Bobby asked a question, and others added their thoughts. If you do something to stand out, please understand youre gonna stand out, and you have to take the boos with the applause. Too many people here get too defensive when their positions arent backed up 100%. I've had my share of disagreements with folks on the board, but I welcome their opinion. That, to me, is what a message board is all about. Some people will like what you do or say, others wont--deal with it.
