View Full Version : Who are these people crying when they meet celebrities?

I just saw some people, young girls mostly, CRYING their eyes out as the just saw Eminen in the TRL studio. I had flipped by some VH1 show. I don't know.
But that one show isn't that important. This happens to your huge starts all the time. Michael Jackson. Madonna. Celine Dion. Maria Carey. You get the idea.
I remember watching something about Maria on MTV, and she showed the cameras these very fancy books full of photos, poems and other things fans send her. Insanity.
So i want to know who these people are that they let themselves get so emotional over celebrities and musicians.
You know, I have always really loved Aerosmith, and might be slightly nervous if I was to meet them, but I'm not going to grovel and cry at their feet like the were some fucking god. I probably wouldn't know exactly what to say at first, but I'd get by. They're just people. In Aerosmith's case, very tallented people.
How can people allow entertainers to do this to them? I understand that their work may have touched them and means something to them, but such behavior seems very unhealthy.

I think I saw some girl crying at an "Unhallowed" gig, but I'm pretty sure that she was just lost and confused.

i think these little girls and whoever else is crying over a celebrity need to get a hobby other than being obsessed with someone. i think it is kind of unheathy too, if i were the person being cried over i would be a little freaked out that people were doing that.

I'd cry if I ever met Aerosmith.
That's a pain that would never go away.

If you cry when you meet a celebrity, you need a bullet to the cranium.
Ah...How nice would this world be without TRL?

I once bumped into Capt. Lou Albano and Nikolia Volkoff in a men's room at a wrestling convention. I'm weeping just thinking about it.

What I don't get is asking for an autograph. What for.. to "prove" you met the person? Big whoop. I'd much rather just have an interesting story about the celeb.

People live vicariously through celebrities...sharing fabricated dramatic moments in film and music that seem emotionally authentic to them. When Eminem is hurting, they can relate...
That's one possible explanation.
The other, which is more commonly accepted through the history of the "rock idol", is the notion that people are overwhelmed by celebrities because of thier ubiquitousness and fame as well as thier ability to command an audience. I doubt there's a single person on this message board who wouldn't even be slightly affected by seeing the person they admire the most. Eminem, in your mind, might not be worth that level of emotion, but I'm sure you can think of someone who could be.
Personally I was a little intimidated to meet Howard Stern, only because I was a big fan, although I wouldn't cry over it. I did feel nervous though.
I probably would flip out if I met an actor from Star Trek though...Brent Spiner, Frakes or especially Patrick Stewart.
If you were a girl and you saw a "hottie" rock star you were into, I'd bet any amount of money you'd fucking cry like a bitch and finger your pussy.
On a related note, I saw Carmen Electra and didn't give two shits. Screamed euphamisms for "woman who has a lot of sex" at her while she did her road report from Cancun for MTV.

Well, he DID just fall off the boat, no matter how hard we try to send him back...mostly just for that soft, soft name of his...

I used to love going to different kinds of conventions and getting autographs. But only if they were personalized. I don't care about value or collectors items. If I met someone famous and got an autograph, I want it made out to me. It shows that I actually met this person. You can go out and buy a plain autograph. Personalized is more special. Almost all of my autographs are personalized.

i actually wanted to start a post on this.
people have to stop giving such a big fuck about celebrities. they are just actors in movies and television, why do we put so much importance on such a meaningless act?
i'll tell you why, because the media hypes up this image that people cannot have so that they continue to buy there bullshit. it's such media brainwashing propoganda it makes me sick.
i was happy meeting adam sandler, i got his autograph, but i didn't bother the guy. adn i didn't start crying.
everyone is infatuated with the famous lifestyle that only 5% of us will ever live. it's extremely unhealthy and it is turning our country into shit. our priorites or so out of whack, we celebrate fake heroes on tv but not real heroes who help us everyday.
this is still the best country in the world and i love a lot of things about it but it is this kinda bullshit treatment of the wrong people that will bring us down.

I get annoyed at people who cry over celebrity deaths. Especially elderly celebritys. These people lived exciting lives and didn't know who you were and the only reason they would care that you're not around anymore is because they wouldn't get anymore of your money.
When it's the teeny boppers that get so obsessed with someone, I say the same thing about kids who are online and get involved in all kinds of pointless drama, they haven't had enough life experience to appreciate how stupid the obsession is.
And I'm the same way with personalized autographs. For me, the hunt of being able to meet the person was more important then the actual autograph. I have a few good stories about meeting Steve Young and almost being run over by Pam Anderson's SUV.

OK Moe, to be honest, I tried to start a post about this a month or so ago after watching that Michael Jackson interview.
The thing that really creeped me out (in addition to about 150 other things about Michael Jackson that were revealed) was the level of idolization that he still has...in Europe. These fucking Europeans (in Eastern Europe specifically) are breaking down in front of him like he was the second coming of Christ himself. It was seriously creepy with literally tens of thousands of fans basically wetting themselves with joy at the sight of this freak.
Don't they realize that this man is a pedophile? Don't they realize that there is something fundamentally wrong about everything this man does and says?
I cringe everytime I see people praise this clown and weep with joy in his presence.

The worst was watching Rosie O'Donnell bawling her eyes out when she had Barbra Streisand on her talk show.

i will admit to crying when i was a young teenybopper.
i used to be so in love with Don Mattingly. My mom used to take me to the games, and we'd wait by the parking lot with hundreds of other fans, and i'd cry when he walked by.
I also used to love Micky from the Monkees, and when I saw them in concert in the mid 80's I was hysterically crying. At one point, it looked as if he saw me crying, and then pointed and laughed. But I was 13, so i forgive myself.

I'm so glad I've never cried over any star I've met. It's not in my personality, thank God. I understand the desire to scream once you get home and realize what just happened, but crying? No, I don't get that. :confuse:
