Nah, Liz now sounds more like new Sheryl Crow, which is confusing, because Sheryl Crow sounds like she does now because Liz Phair basically co-wrote her latest album. Both ways, they're huge letdowns. I loved Liz and Sheryl's first couple albums.

I was just going by what I heard. I haven't heard a note from the new Liz Phair release. I just read an interview in which she more or less admitted that this release, with the Matrix production, was more or less a naked attempt for airplay/recognition/CD sales. I was discouraged given that I really liked the stuff that she's done up until now, and the fact that she's had such long breaks between releases.

Haven't heard the new Liz, but I love her first couple albums.

The new Jewel sounds like she ripped off the song stylings of Sister Soleil/Stella Soleil, who has dropped out of site because she hated the fact that her record label tried to turn her into a Britney Spears clone. She's now playing with Whorse out in Chicago.

OK, this seals it...mikeyboy is my brother from another mother. I was just going to post same about Liz Phair, and, of course, our resident renaissance man extraordinaire beat me to it.

In the current issue of Entertainment Weekly, Liz Phair looks like Avril Lavigne...and her album sounds like it and was semi-produced by The Matrix.

Her seminal album "Exile in Guyville" is one of my favorite albums...it is incredibly influential and is the best album to listen to when cleaning the house if you're a guy (or relate to if you're a woman).

Here is my favorite quote from the Liz Phair article"

"I didn't want to be some 90's act that was great in my 20's and never did anything else....People are like, "Don't be commercial, then. Just be....Wilco."

Long live Wilco. The best band on planet earth.

after the first time i heard the new single (intuition) on the radio, the dj came on and said that it was by jewel. while the voice had sounded like her's, i was surprised. then the dj went on to say that it reminded him somewhat of siouxsie and the banshees. i think he may be unfit to be on radio... or have ears.
