God has to be proud of America and democracy in general. Look at how far this country and other democracies have come, we build rocket ships, we build computers, roads, cars, etc. We no longer live like animals. We don't shit in the same water that we wash ourselves, our food, and our clothes in.

Look at the pictures on the news of Iraq. Those people are living in squalor while their leaders live like kings because of the oil money. Don't you think that democracy, even forced democracy, will be better for them in the long run?

I have been thinking about this since I listened to last nights show this morning and my only point of reference for this answer would be from what I was taught from the Bible.

John 17:16 "They are no part of the world, just as I [Jesus] am no part of the world."

John 6:15 " Jesus, knowing they [the Jews] were about to come and seize him to make him king, withdrew again into the mountain all alone." Later he told the Roman governor: "My kingdom is no part of this world. If my kingdom were part of this world, my attendants would have fought that I should not be delivered up to the Jews. But, as it is, my kingdom is not from this source."

1 John 5:19 "the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one."

John 14:30 Jesus refers to Satan as being "the ruler of the world."

So no matter what worldly faction a person might support, under whose control would he really come?

I actually think this is a great topic for discussion.

if the Bible stories are to be taken literally (which I don't think they should, but many do), Don't you think that God would prefer a Theocracy? In the Bible, the kingdoms of israel fell, when it became "corrupt" and less devout. God became angry and brought invading armies (Persians, greeks, and romans) to sack the kingdoms.

So when did god become all about democracy? That's a heathen (Greek) idea anyway, and God would surely smite it down, for our God is an Awesome God.

the key is finding honest leaders who care for their people and handle all matters fairly...regardless of what system of government is in place...

I doubt the God I believe in even gives a rat's ass about earth, but forget about my views...


IF we are to believe in the god of the bible; scientifically, which is rarely done, we gotta agree on what we actually mean by words like 'god' and 'think' and 'he'.

It's called anthropomorphism, I think; assigning human qualities to a god. I ask:

OK; this universe is here. That's weird, because if it's here it was either made by somebody/something, or was just always here, and both of those raise Serious questions.

Is God a living thing? matter? energy? just the universe itself? If so, is the universe self-aware?

Does this god concern itself with the affairs of living things in the universe? if so, are we special in any way?

I find the need to clear these matters up before we even Begin to talk of the god of the bible. because from my studies, the bible is absolutly stunning in that it's the basis of so many people's faiths, but when you study it; you find the God of the Bible is absolutely Schizo, no offense.

He loves Us All, but didnt he drown everyone in a flood?
He made adam and eve imperfect, because they sinned. if they were perfect they couldnt sin. god then punishes them. So god punishes inperfect being he made when they act imperfectly.
God made it all, and that means he created evil [Isaih; 'i make peace, and i create evil...], and disease and all the bad stuff, including satan. Talking donkeys and snakes, burning bushes, and none of this, None, has happened since...

Also, the physical evidence for many events of the bible simply does not exist. Global flood for starters, and dont get me going on the ark.

But the real fatal blow for the bible for me is this story I read:

It talked of a messiah, a man who would come to earth from a virgin birth, and call himself both a man and a god. he would be revered by many and hated by some. He would propehecize his own death. He would be betrayed, tried for his crimes, and put to death. he would rise from the dead and ascend to the heavens; and promise to return as god one day again.

That's the story of Mithras, who also was born on December 25th, and this story predates Jesus the Christ aka Joshua aka Yoshua aka Yahweh aka YHWH aka a bazillion others by centuries. It's also the basic story behind Osiris, and Hercules, and a few other gods that pre-date christianity also, so...
