It took awhile for it to die. It was almost like we (the recappers) just abandoned a baby in a dumpster.

this is sad. i mean, i know that no one's been recapping, so this was bound to happen... but i wonder why it stopped in the first place? i, for one, used to read the recaps all the time.

but i wonder why it stopped in the first place?


this is by no means a personal attack on you but I can imagine it would be really hard to do the recapping when you consider all the x-factors

1) they have to type as people are talking (in real-time) like a stenographer...and when you consider that the punch lines come so quickly it must be tough to accurately type the dialogue

2) we all know that when the boys get on a topic that is 'good radio' they stick with it so it would be tough to know exactly when to stop and start your shift....plus if you tell someone to start at 9 pm they might be in the middle of something

3) they have lives and maybe cannot always sit in front of a computer and listen to the radio at one time

Once people started missing shift it spiraled out of control and made those who were doing thier shifts wonder why they were bothering...can't blame them there

I, too, used to read them and thought very highly of thier ability to do all the above and give me a laugh in the meantime...bravo

Like the song goes, "Big Sexy killed the recap star". Times change. There was a time when the recap was all we had, and it was greatly appreciated by many, including myself. But now, we can live the experience, and the recap and all the excessive effort behind it are no longer required. Thank you Recappers, you served us well at a time we truly needed you. It was your time, up there, but it's Big Sexy's turn, down here.

I remeber what Jeff told me when that circus started. "Dont make a schedule" and i said it would work. He won, but for a good 3 weeks there we put up a helluva fight.

Basically shifts were missed and you really cant enjoy the show if your trying to type, listen, laugh and call in with it.

Thank god theres the taped shows, or else youd all be screwed (except those few people). When we found out people were downloading the show instead of reading the re-caps it was like, ok, well we know when our time is up.

Thanks to all the re-cappers for thier work, and to the people that read them.

It was fun while it lasted.

OK, that's a dirty fucking lie. It was a pain in the ass.

But for a few weeks it felt like something we needed to do, so we did. Then real avenues of listening started popping up thanks to certain tech-minded baord members, the number of views of the recaps started dropping, and the motivation to do them sorta slipped away.

We'll be back if anyone needs us.
