I'm Achin'... for a Replacement's reunion.
I vaguely remember a rumor a while ago that Paul and Tommy were going to get together for some shows, but Axl nixed the idea to keep Tommy plugging away at the never-arriving GnR release. Maybe with the time off for Tommy, something like that can happen now.

Tommy actually nixed any 'Mats reunions, possibly for good. Westerberg apparently took some shots at Tommy for joining G'nR in a magazine interview last year, Tommy get pissed, and HE announced in an interview that because of that there might not be a Replacements reunion EVER, and Paul could go fuck himself.
Ouch.

I still think a Mats reunion is still a possibility. When I saw Paul solo last at small venue, he was really relaxed and i asked him about the possibility and he seemed totally amenable if the GnR issue could be resolved.
I've seen Bash and Pop and Perfect. Tommy is the man. Tommy will be great solo, all we need os for Paul to start drinking again, write some songs in his parent's basement, and give Tommy a buzz...
Hey, anyone wat to go to see him at the Merc in NYC? I'm in. I'll bring my own lampshade, cause I know it will be a party...
PS: How's this for a bill:
Last time I saw Tommy sans Mats (with Perfect), he opened a show at Tramps. Also on the bill were Yo La Tengo and Big Star!

that show was brilliant, seem to last for like six hours or so ..... i think superdrag was thrown on the bill at the last second ..... tommy's version of elton's 'crocodile rock' was amazing .....
I vaguely remember a rumor a while ago that Paul and Tommy were going to get together for some shows
i read in an interview that paul wanted to get back with tommy and chris to complete buddy holly's ill-fated tour, but tommy's g&r obligations got in the way .....
during paul's tour last year, during 'alex chilton' paul tweaked the lyrics to, 'i've never traveled far without a little g&r .....

FYI - That's a hidden bonus track on Perfect's "When Squirrels Play Chicken" EP. Not sure whether that's still in print, though.

That's what I was thinking of. Thanks for refreshing my memory.

Has a date been announced for this show? Schedule permitting, I'm in.

Was that one of the latter day versions of Big Star with the Posies as the backing band?

Thank you badorties! I remembered there was another band! Awesome show, interesting bill. I mean, I love YLT and Big Star, but certainly it was an eclectic bunch of groups.
