I live in Outagamie County, WI, which is now under a ''monkeypox alert''. They're telling us to avoid any strange animals and to make sure our pets don't eat any wild animals. Also, all the local pet stores have their mammals under quaratine, since a lot of them get their animals from the same dealer who handled the diseased prairie dogs.

And they told me the Midwest was a ''safe'' place to live... :(

... yeah, while it may seem like a big deal, it's nothing to break a sweat about. They dealt with MonkeyPox on ER, and it only lasted for two episodes before the wave broke, so don't worry that much....
