I think Mikey takes it more seriously and he does play different music. El Jefe just plays what ever he wants. I am not a techno person it all sounds the same. BUMP BUMP BUMP BUMP BUMP. Pick up a fucking instrument and play.

I'd give it to Mikey D, although Mikey tends to stay within the same genre of music, except when doing a bumper music challenge. El Jeffe's knowledge of music seems to be a lot more limited, and he seems more likely to play the familiar hits. Also, I'm suspicious of anyone who claims that Marilyn Manson is the greatest artist in history.

What the show needs is somebody who has a pretty wide knowledge of music and has a large mental library from which to choose bumper songs. A song that's a good song might not be a good choice for bumper music, and vice versa. Mikey has a good sense of that, but, as I already stated, his choices are all very similar. There are a number of people on this board that, based on their knowledge of music, could probably do a better job than Mikey D or El Jeffe. For example, I'll bet that Mojo, fluffernutter, the Chairman and, um, I could all do pretty good jobs coming up with songs to use.

I actually thought about sending a big, fat e-mail to Mikey of songs I thought he might wanna try as bumpers a few months back...I got to almost 200 different tracks and then decided not to send so as not to seem TOO pretentious.

i have to back mikey d. all of the stuff he plays is the stuff i was listening to during my formative years in the underground scene. i've told him more than once that i was so happy to hear things he's played (future sound of london) the first time they played mikeys bumper music challenge, i called in after 2 songs to tell them it was all early stuff by prodigy... but billy told me i couldnt win because i was a regular on the show. i dont much care for the el jefe stuff for the same reason i hate music radio, i'm tired of the 15 flavors of vanilla that they play to the masses. its government cheese. that shit is the same dreck that they shovel out during prime time tv....sure their might be a few gems in there, but by and far top 40 music is crap. i say rock the fuck on mikey-d. dont take any guff from that fucking swine.

OK, I'M ONLY GOING TO EXPLAIN THIS ONE LAST TIME.....The bumper music should not be the main concern. The bigger issue should be El Jeffe and his massive ego clogging up the airwaves at WJFK. He talks incessantly about himself in THIRD PERSON, with no real achievements to his name in radio. He says he won't take many calls on his show because it's "BETTER TO HEAR LESS OF THE LISTENERS AND MORE OF THE PROFESSIONALS LIKE EL JEFFE". This is a direct quote from him on last Saturday's show. The truth is that so many callers were trying to get on air to tell him HE SUCKED! It's not his musical tastes that matter, but rather his show's utter void of humor or originality.
Some people say: "It's better than listening to 3 hours of informercials!"
No kidding!....and eating a plate of worms is better than a plate of pig shit.

ugh.....actually deek, mikey-d's flavor of techno is from the early to mid 90's and includes mostly harder breaks, and acid house. trance did eventualy evolve out of the hard house / acid house genre. so in short...
