Same party I wrote about in another thread. Unhallowed played it, and it was a good time. But none of us drink.

So here comes all the other people telling us "Man! You guys should drink!"

Why is that? I don't get it. I was driving, but even if I wasn't, drinking is stupid. I've out grown it already. My other bandmates don't drink for their own reasons as well.

But what is it that makes a drunk want other drunks around? I don't get it. Just be drunk and be happy you're in that state. I don't want to drink my weight in beer, ramble on for an hour about how Cheerios are better than Frosted Flakes, vomit and forget what I did in the morning.

Drunks are having a good time when they're drunk. They want
you to be having a good time too. But if they're not respsctful
when you say that you're not drinking (or you feel like you need
to give them an excuse as to why you're not drinking) they're
just immature, drunk retards who are probably going to throw
up in your car when you drive their asses home later.

On the same note, I hate it when non smokers tell me I should quit.

I think there is just an over abundance of people in this world that need others to do as they do in order to reaffirm that what they do is worth doing.

human nature...

a little bit of it is they want you to experience/share what they are feeling... usually they are feeling happy and it's a heightened sense of "good will"...

but other times the drunk knows he has a problem, can't control it, and he feels better or less weak/guilty/ashamed if he had some company...

I agree completely. And even if you think smoking, "really stinks," please keep it to yourself.

i agree with you, but I would add that when I don't drink some of the drinkers get obnoxious, while when I drink I don't feel that way about them. Maybe it's a precaution to being judged too harshly.

No single cause, but things to consider include, the drinks already consumed increase the other's desire to appear grandious and inviting people to drink can fulfill this need.

Some people ask others to drink b/c they feel that no one can have a good time unless they're drinking

Some ask others to drink (especially in a small social situation like in a person's house) to be a good host or hostess and ensure that their guests feel comfortable in having a drink (or eating some food.)

Many other reasons exist of course. Knowing the person's life circumstances, problems, attitudes and the reason and way they drink can help establish their motivation.

I like to think I was being 'Light'.

It's not like I was sitting in the corner with my band. We were all freely conversing with the people at the party. I did have a LONG conversation with a guy who really loved Van Morrison. He was cool, and even drunk was able to speak about things he believed.

I just dislike the pressure to drink.

They were MORE than gratious. The had too many hamburger patties and hot dogs to grill. They had 2 kegs of Bud and one of Coors Lite. Different people had weed. I just don't do any of those things.

Just let me enjoy the party like I want to. If I wasn't going to have a good time, I would have played and left. But I KNEW what was going to happen again, and stayed because I knew I was going to have fun anyway.

I'll just have to be more clear and stern nest time.

Actually, when you're to stern with drunks, they think you're being a DICK and get pissed. I don't know.

So, if you're at a party and the host invites you to a drink, or your out with friends and someone says "can i get you a beer?" is that wrong? I don't get it, it just sounds more like someone being gracious and offering you a drink.

If anything it's just a friendly offering from someone.

Your DAMN RIGHT I ate their food! I had a hot dog and like 5 burgers!

And as for the offer of a drink, I declined and it was cool. It was some other drunks later that night that kinda harped on the subject. And it was more than one person.
