Anyone else listen to him? I started around '96 when I saw him open up for Dave Matthews and I've been hooked ever since. I think he's only had one song on the radio so he's not that mainstream and I was wondering if anyone else likes him as much as I do.

I've developed a taste for him through osmosis--they play him all the time on WFUV-- and while I prefer my singer-songwriters a bit less jammy, I admit that I do like his new album

This summer, Ben Harper's playing at the Montreal Jazz Festival. It's one of the biggest jazz fests in the world; I recommend it to anyone else who can go. It's a relatively cheap train ride right from Penn Station, and, reportedly, is an incredibly scenic route up along the Hudson and through the Adirondacks.

And Montreal isn't nearly as SARS-infested as Toronto. Actually, I think that's their new tourism slogan: "Come to Montreal: You probably won't get the Plague."

Anyone who wants info can email me.

I saw him open for Dave twice as well as G Love & Special Sauce and both of them are really, really talented bands. I know Ben is really good friends with Jack Johnson (somebody you should really check out Aggie if you like Ben Harper) I just really haven't bothered to pick up any of his albums. However, next time I'm in a CD store and I wanna pick something up, I'll no doubt reach for Ben and give him a listen.

I've seen Ben twice open for Pearl Jam. I didn't care for him. The show the day before was the last Mudhoney show on the tour and would rather have seen them.

I only know him from Standing in the Shadows of Motown. He did an excellent cover of Marvin Gaye.
