From DCRTV:

R&F "Coming Home" To JFK - 6/18 - It looks like Ron and Fez will be "coming home for good" the week after next. They've been, most of the time, doing their show from NYC even though they're only heard in the DC market. R&F used to air on the Big Apple's WNEW, before it flipped format a few months ago. But later this month, they'll be making the move to the Fairfax studios of WJFK-FM.....

Regardless of where these 2 jabroni's broadcast from, Ron and Fez have found a permanent "home" in DC. What the hell difference does it make whether they are physically in NYC or here in DC? The real dilemma is whether to move them to am for 4 hours, or keep them at 7-11 pm. I say "live" at 11am, and replay them at 7pm for the cloistered office crowd The obvious drawback replaying them at 7pm is no live phone calls. I miss the comedy pyramid, "Superstar", and when they "poll" the audience. If they are still doing these things, I must be on the pot. They are funny, topical, interactive, and an absolute breath of fresh air in this stagnant market of 2 minutes of sports talk and 58 minutes of commercials, NPR drones, and narrow minded conservatives. These guys are a throw back to the 60's-70's style of "personality radio" a la Fred Fisk/Joel A Spivak locally, (with a demeneted new millenium slant), who interacts with their radio audience about things that are (no trite intended) interesting. Fez is hilarious and extremely quick on the take. Ron is great, but I sense a level of condescenion that he is talking to a bunch of hillbilllys from Va and MD. Hopefully in time he will realize that we are similiar to his NYC demo sans the obnoxious accent. Fez's fezatorial re: Anika Sorenson was priceless. I could go on, but will leave it at that. In the immortal words of that hook nosed midget, DH," Welcome, Welcome, Welcome, Welcome, ...........Welcome!

You VA, DC people have accents too which some NY people would also consider obnoxious. :p

Actually, most of us don't have accents here. Too many of us are nomads from the rest of the country/world, so we all just speak in the same boring tongue. But Maryland? And the REST of VA? Ye GADS...

There's something you will be waiting for for a while. I have been listening every day since they moved to WJFK and haven't heard a comedy pyramid since the first couple of shows.

Actually, they only stopped doing the pyramids a month or two ago, but you're right, the NYC callers were much better at them. Of course, it took THEM a good 2-3 years to get the hang of it, so maybe it'll come back down the line. The DC callers like to talk, and they're much better at sharing with "what's your best/worst/favorite...?" bits. Plus, we usually have better fucked up stories. Unlike the lying NYC callers.

It will probably be easier to Fez, then it is on Ron, because he has a family. But NYC is where they made home for the past 4 years, and like someone above said, this is where their hearts are. WE LOVE YOU GUYS!!

People, there is no reason to insult eachother. We are all friends here.

I like hearing the guys in New York because of the local references, but the show is just as funny. As for the comedy pyramid comments, I feel that just like everything else our buddays are just going with what works. DC callers have had a lot of input with their story calls.

Just like we all change, the show must also evolve.

I want to wish Ron and Fez good luck on there move. It's tough to start all over in a new city/state. You got to remember they are people with families, and friends. It's definitly hard on them in those ways as well.

I just hope this doesnt mean the end to the NY crew. Those guys are a fun addition to the show.

***clears throat**

How do I say goodbye to what we had?
The good times that made us laugh outweigh the bad.
I thought we'd get to see forever
But forever's gone away
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

I don't know where this road
Is going to lead
All I know is where we've been
And what we've been through. If we get to see tomorrow
I hope it's worth all the wait
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

And I'll take with me the memories
To be my sunshine after the rain
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

And I'll take with me the memories
To be my sunshine after the rain
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

goodbye guys...good times...i hope Wonderboy does a decent job but he talks down to people too much to be a good leader.

The comedy pyramids sound a bit forced down here, but i love to weigh in on them. The stories though are much funnier, as like mojo said, we just have the craziest stories in the world. I mean the DC Metro area is Hicks, Politicians, Buisnessmen and Angry Sports fans, you cant go wrong!

I still can't wait for the day for DC callers to stop saying "welcome to DC". They have been here for almost 3 fucking years. Anyway I think the boys will feel a little bit more settled once they find a place to live get moved in a bit and have their families around. The DC fans have made them feel welcome here in town. The audience is growing and hopefully they will be back in NYC very soon.

Two years. It didn't become an "official" bit until sometime in 2002, right? Either way, it took time to become part of the show. The thing didn't just pop outta nowhere. It's a different show now. Something else will pop up.

The show grows, it evolves, it changes.

It would be pretty boring to be doing the same show and routines every year.

Grow or stagnate. Obviously, growth is preferred.

"Look we are all together on this one. We all wish Ron and Fez were in both NY and DC"

Absolutely. Listening to the show when it was in both DC and NYC showed how the New York Brethren had an edge and wit that is missed. I HOPE FOR YOU AND THE OVERALL QUALITY OF THE SHOW THEY RETURN TO THE GREATEST CITY ON EARTH POSTEHASTE. For NYC fans, I wish you could hear the 11 am version of the show. Ron and Fez have condensed 3 hours of schtick into 1 hour. They only BREAK into 3 minute commercials every 15 minutes, and return strong. The show has a great pace, and the supporting cast is pretty much nonexistent. They take no listener phone calls, just Ron and Fez riffs about whatever sticks in their craw. Listening to this version of the show is like snorting pure, uncut, coke. They don't carry on ad nauseum about Billy's neurosises (funny for 10 minutes, but an hour? Oy!), or other filler like Hairy Elvis' father being a grift (depressing and boring). Just unaldulterated humor and comment.
Great stuff....Actually, I'd rather have them on in this "pure" format for 2 hours midday, then the 4 "filler" hours at night. Just my opinion. I wonder if they could get an XM radio hookup? Probably not due to contractual agreements, but maybe in the future.
