I dont like this at all. I just wanted to reply and there was already a quote there, which I dont want. Now I have to delete something everytime before i post?
I give this idea a thumbs down, a big thumbs down.

Perfect.
I like having the option of auto-quoting but I dont like replies to automatically have quotes in them all the time.

Perhaps if the sig was a separate field in the posts table......
Then you get the best of both worlds. You can see old sigs for the nostalgic feel, plus the sig won't get quoted with the post.
And on top of that, you can then add the ability to turn sigs on and off..... (won't work for posts made before the change-over, but still quite useful!)

There are also times when an entire post wouldn't be quoted. Sometimes, I tend to quote just a single response or a fragment of a sentence. I know, I myself like to look for things that are maybe one line to take out of context which is always fun.
