It's high time for a Steels appreciation thread. However, we can't do this b/c we don't want to attract undue attention.

The above comments about Kazaa being full of spyware are completely accurate and it shouldn't be downloaded. However, Kazaa Lite 2, is the same program w/o spyware. It's a terrific program for everything from movies, to music and software.

Be sure to install and routinely run spybot search and destroy. And don't even think of running your computer unless you have antivirus software with current definitions. Norton Antivirus is the best (in my opinion). It wins the "best of" awards in the computer magazines pretty much every year. See the most recent issue for a review of the "best of" antivirus software.


It certainly is easier to go through Steels supplemented with the backup system (damn aol, optimum online and windows) but putting the files on Kazaa is a good idea as well as it may attract new fans who don't know about other sources of material.

Sorry to get off topic here, but since we're talking about Kazaa I might as well ask. Is there anyway to transfer all your files from Kazaa to Kazaa Lite?

Sure.

The mp3's etc that you downloaded don't contain spyware, the kazaa program itself does.

Create a new file, (call it temp) and save your dowloaded files in it. (you can just cut and paste).

Using control panel delete Kazaa. Manually uninstall directories not uninstalled during uninstall process.

Reboot. Run spybot. Innoculate your computer (using spybot).

Search for Kazaa Lite 2.0 on Google. Download and install.

Cut and paste the files from the file you set up before into the "shared folders" file in the kazaa lite directory.

If you want, you can then delete the file named "temp"
