Has anyone been to the Continental that I think is in the village?
I'm suppose to go see a band there with some friends but we really don't know how to get there. I'm coming in on the PATH.
and what kind of place is it? any good?
oh and most important, what good restruarants are around there?

any assistance is appreciated.

3rd Avenue, near the corner of St. Mark's Place. Be prepared to be underwhelmed as the Continental is basically a giant rectangle.

the continental is just another little box bar.
It serves its purpose.
Food wise theres a good tapas place around the corner on 9th and 3rd . besides that theres some good eats in the east village of all types of food go explore.
san Loco, good tacos on 8th and 2nd i think.

for anyone who wants to see decent shows, go to the birch hill in old bridge. and if your in a band, talk to them, i dont know if they have a liquor license back so for a bit it may be easier to get a gig there

the Continental is basically a giant rectangle.

...and as I recall, a narrow, brick walled one. I thought the sound in the street was better than in the club. A good place to stroll around however.

i've been there a couple of times. it's not a bad place, but the bands i usually want to see don't play there. i saw murphy's law there once, though, and that was a really sweaty fun show.

I went there lots in the early 90's. Previous posts describe it pretty well. There's a great late night pizza place right next door; we always ate there after shows.

I used to see The Waldo's there a lot, they were like the house band. Waldo's were Walter Lure's (ex-New York Dolls/Heartbreakers) band. They rocked.

I saw Treepeople (Dug Martsch's old band, now of Built to Spill) there several times, they were one of my favorite bands. Also Seamonster played there a lot.

RIP Johnny Thunders...
