To Mr Horde King:

Why in the Key board do you
have to press shift to get a
question mark and if you don;t
you get a slash/ I know in
todays computer world the
slash is being used more often
but back in the day the
Question Mark had to be used
more so why do we punish my
pinky?????

CYYYFYYY - For many people, pressing the shift key is the only exercise they get. Would you deprive them of this? I thought not.

The QWERTY keyboard which we use has been around since the late 1800's. Back then, people were less inquisitive as science had barely been discovered and thus there were a heck of a lot fewer questions. It made sense to have to press shift to get to the infrequently used symbol.

Interstingly the DVORAK keyboard which we don't use is more efficient than the QWERTY keyboard. DVORAK has all the vowels and punctuation marks on the left side of the keyboard and consonants of the right side. This design has the question mark where our Q is, immediatly to the right of the TAB key. A shift key was needed to access the question mark. The default symbol was the same as ours, a slash.
