.... does that mean I am supporting a kid toucher? Well, it IS a charity concert so maybe it cancels out. But I was a fan until all the crap went down, now I'm very conflicted.

EDIT: I forgot to add that it's free, I'm not paying (my friend works for Jive so he hooked me up) so maybe I'm really NOT supporting a kid toucher, but then I'm not giving to the charity either. Dammit.

It's a Michael Finley/Mark Cuban event and this is what it says:

All proceeds go to the Fallen Patriot Fund. A fund established by the Mark Cuban Foundation to help families of the US military personnel who were killed or seriously injured during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

What's so different about this foundation is that 100 percent of all donations go to the families. Also, your donation is matched dollar for dollar by Mark Cuban up to 1 million dollars

I was a fan until all the crap went down,

Literally

Just remember, if you're in the first 3 rows you could get splashed.

Is it just a concert of his or a few acts?

I think there are other acts but nothing has been announced yet. It's called the 'Michael Finley All-Star Bash' so who knows what that means. PLUS, you have to be at least 21 to get in, they're carding people. I just thought of that. I wonder if that's because R can't be around anyone younger than that. lol Lord, this should be interesting. And yes, I've already packed my poncho.

Think she's conflicted now? What Aggie doesn't know is that the rest of the bill includes Michael Jackson, Gary Glitter, Pete Townshend and Jerry Lee Lewis.

Don't forget, the whole thing is being filmed for a documentary by Roman Polanski.

Eh, fuck it. Have a good time. If only everything in life could have a bitchin' "Ignition Remix".

Your question presents a very interesting ethical quandry. Supporting a child molester is certainly inappropriate, but is that what's really going on here?

You've said that this concert isn't being billed as an R Kelly event but rather an "All Star Bash." All proceeds go to charity and the performers aren't being financially compensated for appearing.

An argument could be made that attending this concert will improve Kelly's public image which could lead to increased sales of cd's and paid concerts. There are too many variables there for that to be a reason not to go.

Have a really great time.

(If you have a carry permit, perhaps you should take your gun - just in case). ;p

well since its a charity event and R will not ( i assume) be getting paid, it is not so bad that you are going to see him.

i know i am totally conflicted because I love his latest album. i think it has to be one of his better albums. but, i get kind of freaked when i listen to some of the words and question who he is singing to.

Sounds bogus. They all had life insurance minimum 100 grand. This sounds like a scam.

Mad props to Fluff for the sig and C.O.soup for hosting!

r kelly is r&b AIDS. but i do feel conflicted about his crime. on the one hand, its wrong to do minors. on the other hand, those chickenheads didnt seem to mind. yeah, they were underaged, but certainly not young enough not to know what they were doing. fuck it, throw them ALL in a lake of fire.

that includes finley and cuban for inviting the kid toucher to perform. finley should be working on his damn game.

Woohoo! It's tomorrow and I'm getting excited. I'm listening to 'Chocolate Factory' right now.

I'll let you know if he tries to molest anyone, but since it's 21 and up, I don't think he'll find anyone of interest there. :confuse: But maybe I shouldn't drink just in case.

They all had life insurance minimum 100 grand.

Frankly, 100 grand compensation for a life isn't much, especially if the family was dependent on the fallen soldier's income. Say a 22 year old kid was killed. He could reasonably expect to have at least another 35 years of earning potential. 100 grand as compensation for that whole period, even adjusted for investment value, etc., isn't a whole hell of a lot.

Concert was awesome....I didn't go to see anything but him. The doors opened at 8 and he didn't come on until 11.30 or so, so we didn't show up until then.

My observations:
1. The boy can SING! Damn, he sounded just as good or better than his CDs, what a voice. (And he played the piano and danced, for a pervert, he's very talented)

2. I never really found him sexy until I saw him live. Mmmm, he looked good.

I give it 2 thumbs up and recommend anyone who likes his music to go see him live, it's worth it.
