Sim City 4

I just bought sim city 4 and I'm having problems. Is it just me or is this game really hard to get started?
I have tried several times to get a city started but I always run out of money and it all goes to hell. Luckily there is the God mode and I can blow the shit out of my city.
I really like the game I just wish I could play it. Can anyone give me any strategy hints. Don't bother giving me cheats. If i want cheats I can find them. but I just need some assistance with getting started.

yah i got it too and it was really hard, then i went to gamefaqs (http://www.gamefaqs.com) and downloaded a guide. Basically all the civic buildings (i.e. police station) arent needed untill you have like 5,000 people. AND DONT BUILD SCHOOLS TILL YOUR REALLY BIG! Maintaing schools is impossible early on. And remeber every house needs water. It takes a long time, but youll get used to to, we can talk it up if you want.

Make sure you download the patches off of Simcity.com. Otherwise, you won't be able to get the biggest buildings. The game will run much smoother as well.

Also check Simtropolis.com. They already have some mods out. Make sure you know what you are doing before you install the mods as you cannot remove them and will have to reinstall the game to get rid of them.
