O & A day in the media

Two intriguing things happened yesterday...

1) I listen to Scott Ferrall daily on WQAM via the internet. A caller called in and asked why Ferrall left New York. He went on to explain in great detail the happenings at WNEW, including the Sex For Sam incident. Although he never mentioned O & A (he referred to them as the Afternoon Drive show) he did mention how everyone at the station has let go, including his bosses.

Then last night on Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn...

2) The discussion was the catholic church. Patrice O'Neil, an O&A regular, wanted to make a point about the influence of the church. He started to bring up the Sex For Sam incident and actually hesitated, looked at Colin and asked "Are we allowed to say Opie and Anthony?". Colin said yes, but quickly made his point that the O&A situation wasn't an example of the power of the church, but instead the power of advertisers.


Neither were big deals, I know, but it was just odd that twice yesterday, O&A were either directly or indirectly talked about on TV and radio.

An admissions employee at St. Francis Hospital in Port Washington, NY tells ST that Cumia, half of former WNEW/New York afternoon duo Opie & Anthony, arrived at the hospital on Tuesday and checked out Wednesday. Though no reason for his overnight visit was disclosed, the hospital markets itself as a state-of-the-art cardiac-care facility. Opie & Anthony representative Robert Eatman offered only an official "no comment" when contacted by ST.
