i always loved DC Talk's cover of 'all apologies' ......
..... what else can i say / jesus is the way
although for a sort of christian-rock band, sunny day real estate was amazing .....

Here's a cute little Happy Home series 45 telling the story of Pip Pip, a young chicken who wouldn't obey.
And ends up burning in Hell for all Eternity with Satan and all of Satan's disciples.
It's cute.

I spent a great spring/summer working on "For Mature Adults Only". It must have been the ecumenical council ok'ing "fraternization" with those "other christians", but the catholic, methodist and lutheran churches all got behind it. It was a big enough "hit" that there was a short commercial run. Funny, the churches didn't push so hard when "they weren't the producers." The day after the opening nite party I was praying for a hangover cure.

*sigh*
Not only is Evanescence NOT "Christian music", but they're actually GOOD too.
Sorry they're not on Radiohead-levels of excellence.
BTW, I've never understood the negative stigma attached automatically to Christian rock groups.

I just graduated from my Catholic middle/high school that I went to for 6 years. Every morning they played a Christian music video for us, and I have to say that most sucked. There was one guy though, Steven Curtis Chapman, who actually had some decent songs. I wouldn't buy his CD, but he had talent.

how can you see into my eyes like open doors
leading you down into my core
where I've become so numb without a soul my spirit sleeping somewhere cold
until you find it there and lead it back home
(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside
(I can't wake up)
Wake me up inside
(Save me)
call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up)
bid my blood to run
(I can't wake up)
before I come undone
(Save me)
save me from the nothing I've become
now that I know what I'm without
you can't just leave me
breathe into me and make me real
bring me to life
If those aint christian lyircs, i do not know what is. They were christian rock, until they got big, then they let all there beleifs get thrown out the window. And actually good, well, we'll leave that up to you. (i cant stand them)

Sorry, but they are. They're scrambling to downplay that since they're crossing over into the mainstream, and that's actually worse than if they just stuck with it.
Listen...God does NOT rock. AT ALL. I don't care if you're singing about Jehovah, Jesus, Buddha, Allah, Shiva, Kali, WHATEVER. Religious "rock" is ASS.
I'm not knocking general religious music...that's a seperate genre unto itself and it does what it does. But religious "rock" is such a friggin' oxymoron I'm shocked the universes hasn't sucked itself into itself yet.
GOOD rock music is based in raw, powerful emtions. Sad, happy, passion, anger, WHATEVER...all things that the big religions essentially try and contain with all their sermons and "commandments" and religious texts. Just flip through them! Unless you're being passionate about God, strong emotions essentially are BAD. It all leads to greed, sex, jealousy, violence, whatever...or so the religions would have us believe.
I'm not saying rockers can't be religious...but the music itself canNOT be religious and be good music. Impossible. And it friggin' shows. AWFUL.
[quote]Evanescence Christian Controversy!
EVANESCENCE's record label, Wind-Up Records, has officially recalled the group's products from Christian stores, Christian radio, and Christian charts, citing "recent statements by band members [which] have made it abundantly clear that EVANESCENCE is a secular band."
In a letter dated Thursday, April 10, Alan Meltzer, the Chairman and Owner of Wind-Up Records, explained the decision, stating, "Despite having roots within the Christian community prior to the release of 'Fallen', recent statements by band members have made it abundantly clear that EVANESCENCE is a secular band, and as such view their music as entertainment. No more, no less. As such we strongly feel that they no longer belong in Christian retail outlets. Despite the spiritual underpinning that has ignited interest and excitement in the Christian religious community, the band is now opposed to promoting or supporting any religious agenda. The decision to release 'Fallen' into the Christian market was made subsequent to discussions with and approval by the artist. Obviously the band has had a change in their perspective, as well as changes within the band itself as relates to new band members. Wind-Up deeply regrets this situation."
Meltzer's comments concluded with the following. "I have no issues or problems with the band not wishing to promote a religious agenda. That is their opinion. How it has been handled is a separate issue. That being said, I do have a problem with misrepresenting the artist to the Christian community. That is not and has never been the intent of Wind-Up or the band. Nevertheless, it is quite apparent that the landscape has now changed... I apologize for what has become an unfortunate and embarrassing situation. While I cannot go back and undo what has been done, going forward we will scrutinize our Christian artists' beliefs and commitment with even greater diligence. I assure you that there will not be any repeat of anything even resembling this present situation. I will personally inform all of our future artists who represent themselves as Christian artists and wish to be represented in the Christian community that in doing so they must understand the lasting and on-going commitment that involves. Those who are not 100% committed will not be offered to Christian retail."
According to Robin Parrish of Christian Music Central, the "recent statements" that Meltzer speaks of is likely a reference to this week's edition of Entertainment Weekly, which has a feature article on the group. In the article, band member (and professing Christian) Ben Moody uses the "f"-word and takes Christ's name in vain multiple times.
This comes in contrast to past comments made by Moody. In "Fallen"'s liner notes, he thanked (among others) Jesus Christ, saying, "All the life left in me is you." In an interview given to Stranger

THANK YOU.
I knew I was missing a key piece of evidence.
Not only is their music a mess, but they have no problem being blatant in their church-based homophobia! BONUS!
