Honestly, i have read American Psycho man times and the Character of Patrick Bateman was supposed to have OCD. It was one of his mental conditions. The writer is amazing and is very detailed, i guess thats why i read the book so many time.

I don't think he had OCD, I think he was status conscious. He needed to be better than everyone else, be it fashion, style, restaurants visited, business cards, etc.

I think that its more that he was representative of an OCD society. Bateman as a character is a satirization of the social climber of the 80s that obcessed over every little detail, where anything could make or break you.

also his insanity represents the insanity of his surroundings. so many times he tried to say he was insane and no one took him seriously, because in reality he wasnt all that insane (except of course when he was murdering people in horrible, and very creative ways)
