All right. Here is where your argument is flawed.
First and foremost, you don't fuck with the Catholic Church. O&A had two listeners go in and perform Anal Sex in one of the holiest places in the United States. This is where the catholic league comes in.
Lizzie, on the other hand, her crimes had absolutely nothing to do with the Church. Yeah, she was drunk and fucked up on ecstacy or something like that. But if the Catholic League has NOTHING to say about this. So don't bring it up, and don't compare it to the O&A situation, because it's like Apples and Oranges.
Now, as for Lizzie... the only reason you know her name is that she is an Important Person Who Has Money. I capitalized that for a reason - the media loves to shine the spotlight on Important People Who Have Money, because it makes for "juicy" news and more importantly, ratings. If Lizzie Grubman was a fat woman on welfare, and this incident happened in Jamaica instead of the Hamptons, you would have heard about this once and forgotten about it.
As for your opinion that Lizzie is still an awful person - you're not in her head. Perhaps this incident completely changed her opinions. I used to drive insanely fast and recklessly until I got into my first car accident - and ever since then I don't go above 80.
Now, to tie this all in...
Even without her infamy, LIZZIE GRUBMAN IS QUALIFIED FOR THIS JOB. It's not like turning Britney Spears into an Anime artist, or Kevin Nash as a molecular biologist. She is a PR flack. PR flacks, by their very nature, are excellent writers and well spoken. This makes her a very good fit to be a newsreader at Blink.
Not only that, she has multiple celebrity contacts. As I remember, wasn't she drinking with Tara Reid the night of the incident? Let's see. Tara Reid knows Ashton Kutcher. What's the hottest celebrity gossip story right now? Oh, yeah, Ashton and Demi. That wouldn't be a huge story to Blink's audience, not at all.
The infamy of Lizzie Grubman is just an added bonus, and it's all about infamy to garner ratings. Blink is doing this as an experiment - there's no such thing as bad publicity - and if she sucks on the air, you can be damn sure they'll yank her.
You say it won't convert Z-100 listeners, but you can be sure as hell a ton of people will be listening the day she debuts. And if she does a great job, the station may retain listeners. And if she's absolutely awful on the air, people will STILL listen to mock her about how bad she is.
And finally, because I was curious, I asked Mikey D himself at the Softball Game what he thought about Lizzie Grubman being hired. He said, "I really don't care. I don't work there anymore."
If a former employee and on-air personality of WNEW doesn't care about this, why should you?
All you do is bitch about Blink... and I told you this before, they don't care, it's not going to change, and the more you harp on this, the more it's gonna swallow you up. LET IT GO.
But if you can't, let's reverse it. What happens when O&A are re-hired in 11 months? How about those people screaming how outrageous it is that those two anti-Christian scumbags have been re-hired? What are YOU gonna do? I'd guarantee you'd bash every single one of thoese people, even though it's ALL ABOUT RATINGS AND ADVERTISING MONEY.
