Problems with the current location of the Game

Hello people. I was just going to suggest that the spot for next year's softball game should be a little closer to NYC. I was really thinking Nassau (rather than suffolk), but you'd really have to get lucky to find a good field there. BTW guys, sorry I couldnt make it!

This wasnt really a problem for me, only about a 20 minute drive, but I know that people from NJ have about a 45-1 1/2 hr drive, and it's a bitch for the people who dont have cars in the city.

Amityville is in Suffolk County just across the county line. I used to live there right of off County Line road. My aunts house who lives right up the street in Farmingdale is on the border of Nassau and Suffolk county. You go in the living room and you are in Suffolk then go in the den and you are in Nassau county.

slightly less than 2 hours going to the game, 3 and change getting home(Souther State to the Belt was heavy traffic)...

but it was well WORTH it...

It's funny, because for once there was an event pretty close for me. But yet there's lots of events that are far away for me, but I never complain about it. The Chairman picked a great park and it was a good time. But even if it was in Jersey I wouldn't have complained about it. I think the next one is there, and I'll go to it, but I wouldn't complain that its very far for me.

As for Nassau county there are a few good parks to play games in, I could look into which are best and see about availability for next year.

To put a **slightyly** more PC spin on Jon's post...

He definitely asked months and months ago for suggestions and hook ups. It isn't a bed of roses to hook us up with a field and have the responsibility of making sure it all clicks...as the Chairman and Aya found out. And it is a big effort. BUT if you want to have the game closer to where you are...then by all means call the appropriate town halls and such and do the research. Perhaps next year we will all be thanking you for your efforts and time on our behalf.

Other than that.... I live in central NJ and it took me only an hour and a half to get there via car. I know that ADF and some others had no issues with taking the trains to get there. And some of them were lucky enough to get rides home. Where there is a will, there is a way....or so they say. And this was indeed the case yesterday.

There WILL always be someone who can't make it. But isn't that the case with ALL things in life?

In my humble opinion.... you only live once . So why sit around and complain..... get off your ass and live life. Even if it means traveling to the ass crack of America to hang out with your Buddhays.
