View Full Version : Death to the 2 hour movie!

I am so pissed! I read today that Bad Boys 2 is going to be 150 minutes long.
How can you sustain the humor and the action for that long and hold the audience's interest?
I know that with a 2 hour movie, you want your money's worth, but in this short attention span, hurry-up-and-move-on world, no one will like a 2+ hour movie unless it's a work of genius.
A 2 hour running time didn't work for the Matrix and I didn't even bother to go see the hulk when I heard "it doesn't get interesting until an hour in"
What the F?

How does a movie that's 150 minutes long get you "soooo pissed?"
Granted it's a long time, but so what. Calm your nut junior it's not that upsetting. I could understand if it was 194 minutes like Malcolm X was, but so what if it's 20 minutes more than normal. Either way I'm not going to see it.
Also, before you talk back to a mod like that, make sure your sigpic is the proper size. DOH!!

I agree that a SHIT movie like Bad Boys 2 will SUCK after the first hour.
But instead of having a problem with a bad movie being to long, you should have a problem with Hollywood NOT giving us thought provoking, interesting, funny movies that hold our attention.

I want an hour and a half movie, especially if it's a summer blockbuster.
Whoever wrote Charlies Angles should just be shot, by the way!

so how about this, if a movie is too long for you, dont buy a ticket. its called options. go see a movie shorter, or rent one. or watch a game. but its not that big a deal, so to get physically angry is sad. eat a xanex and go watch 54, isnt that like an hour
Silent Bob you one rude motherfucker, she like to go down on you, suck you. line up 2 other guys and make like a circus seal

i blame myself for not liking movies. i know full well before hand i won't have the attention span for most movies. my mind just wanders...and in a movie theater i can't sit comfortably in a seat that long. so i stick with the half hour to hour long TV shows and the rest of the time sit in my nice comfortable chair in front of my computer.

Anger's not physical, it's mental. And I do rent movies, but there are ass jacks who ruin the movie for you, so you have to see it before it comes out on video.
I did avoid The Hulk and Charlies Angels, and i'll avoid whatever else looks like crap to me.
My hand to God, I swore that the Matrix Reloaded was gonna be a perfect movie.
And what the hell is "54?"

What the hell do you mean 2 hours was too long for the matrix, i coulda watched another fucking 2 hours of that AND THEN SOME. They kept the actiaon and storyline evenly spaced so that once you were starting to get tired of the storyline it brings you right back to action.

Well, I loved it just as much as you, but there are a few new characters who were either uninteresting or were overacting (the rival Captain of Morpheus was both)
Hey, i agree with the waiting for DVD thing, but there's just something that screams "you gotta see this in the theatre" about some movies.
Maybe i'm letting my short attention span get the best of me, but two hours turns me off unless the movie is enjoyable from beginning to end.
But, hey, I watched the whole Kenneth Brannah version of Hamlet and I liked it, so maybe I should stop complaining.

I don't even think you are going to get an answer to that question. There are hardly any movies that hold the audiences attention anymore. Whether it is the horrible movies themselves or the short ass attention span we have now.

Please, with the amount movie tickets cost these days, they'd BETTER give me a movie that's AT LEAST 2 hours long, if not longer.

seriously i understand ur quarrel, but i have my own solution to the problem. smoke a blunt rite b4 u see it. when i do that i just sit and zone to th emovie, it makes the great parts amazing, the broing parts are watchable, and u pay attention to the whole thing, cuz ur not doin anything else. but word of warning u may just sit there and think: "this popcorn is the greatest popcorn ive ever had!"

Blasphemy. Many (if not most) of the greatest movies ever made are over 2 hours long.

I agree, I like it when movies are 2 hours or longer.
Besides, if you don't have the attention span, don't see it.
And Bad Boys 2 will kick ass!

Well. i'm not proposing a 30 minute "tv episode" length. I'm just asking for a little less than 2 hours. Maybe 1 and a half or 1 and 45.
Is that so wrong?
