With all the recent stuff on the news about programs like Kazaa, Morpheus, WinMX etc. I've started to wonder who the goverment will target when handing out fines and such.

I use Kazaa as I'm sure many do and I'm wondering what the chances are of an everyday person getting in trouble for using one of these programs.

I also heard that the FIAA will target the people putting the music and stuff on there, not the downloaders. So if I stop anyone from sharing from me would I be innocent?

They cant shut down kazaa because it isnt based in America, its worldwide. They arent going to go to the everyday joe whos downloading music unless you are letting people upload songs or downloading songs at a rate of at least 200+ a day. They want to go for the people running this stuff. And I heard last night they were closing down morpheus, I think.

The RIAA is going after "major downloaders". The average user doesn't have much to worry about yet. One thing you can do to protect yourself is to disable file sharing, as they are allegedly tracing illegally traded music by searching for people who have large amounts of music files available to share.
