Why are my posted pics always fuzzy on the web?

It doesn't matter if I use .gif or .jpeg format at the highest quality levels and start with pics at like at least 230 resolution, I still get blurry pics. They're crystal clear on my comp and in Photosho[, but when I post them on my band's website on an alternate page and link to them from here, they ALWAYS come out blurry. Gifs worse than Jpegs is seems.

Can anyone give me a few pointers on keeping images on the net fresh and crisp or maybe point out what I'm neglecting to do?

Are you uploading your pictures to an AOL account?

If so, for some reason I dont know, but if you upload a jpg and name it "moe.jpg" then it will come out blurry. BUT if you just name it "moe" then when you post it, it will be clear.

No Pantera, I'm uploading to my band's website server. And it doesn't happen all the time with stuff. Just shit I seem to alter and joke around with.

Well I did forget to check the web safe pallet, thanks for that.

But pics I take with my digital usually spit them out at 230. That's fairly high compaired to some pics I've worked with.

Now here's an interesting example. Last night I altered a pic of grlNiN's with my head in it.

All I did was shrink my head and add it to the pic.

But the entire pic was more blurry then the webcam pic I took of her off the web. Her pic was fuzzier, and my head looked really crappy.

What would cause that?
