Uh oh Devils fans...the team that beat us 2 years ago...and shouldn't have....has reunited the dynamic duo of Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne...these two were one of the best one two punches in hockey when they were together in Anaheim....and now theyre back together along with the other great players that the Avalanche have...this is definitely a Colorado move to try to take back the cup but the Devils will be ready and willing if they play each other in the finals next year

Oh and one more thing...Rangers suck

Awesome! The Ave's are my favorite team in the West. Congratulations on their upcoming Stanley Cup Championship!!!

Yeah this was quite impressive. But what is odd is that both Kariya and Selanne really killed thier old teams. You will see at the news conference at 4 that kariya signed for 1.2 mill when he could probably get around 8-9 mill. He said he signed for that low for reasons to be explained later. Selanne also signed for 5.8 million which is less than the 6.5 offer he was given from the sharks. I guess today it wasnt all about money but I am interested to hear Kariyas thoughts.

Holy shit!!!! The Cup returns to Colorado next year. Now all they need is a goalie.

ok just cause they have two more amazing players does not necessarily mean they will win. This year Hedjuk and Forsberg had their best seasons ever, and they lost. They have absolutly no goaltending whatsoever, and there are no goalies available for free agency that are good enough, and they only have to good defenders in Blake and Foote. The only team that has a goalie worth wild getting is Detroit, and they wont trade to Avs because they are their arch rivals, but also detroit has made some dumb moves lately by not signing fedorov (freaking aholes..my favorite team mind you). And if Avs wanted CUJO or Hasek they would have to give up either sakic, forsberg, hedjuk, kariya or selanne, I really do not see them keeping all 5 players this year if they are intending on getting a goalie to actually help them win. They arent an east coast team they dont play the trap so they screwed in that aspect, and their defense isnt good enough to stop goals. Also look at Rangers they supposedly had alot of Talent, Lindros(sucks cant skate without looking down), Bure, Fleury, Carter, and so forth but yet they never do anything, just cause you have great scorers doesnt mean you will be great. So now AVS only really have one assist man in Forsberg and 4 scorers doesnt always work out, the way people think.

Wrong. It should have happened quicker.

Oh and one more thing...Rangers suck

I do agree here! Just who did Sather interview for the coaching job? What a joke.

kariya signed for 1.2 mill when he could probably get around 8-9 mill

The money of these deals shocked me too. More so the Kariya deal being sooo low. It's obvious he really wanted to play with his old pal, and don't forget how well he played with Sakic for team Canada when they won the gold. This will be the Avs second line.

They have absolutly no goaltending whatsoever, and there are no goalies available for free agency that are good enough, and they only have to good defenders in Blake and Foote.

Firstly, the Avs have a ton of young talent in the minors and a backup who they held onto for the time when Roy did retire. Obviously he is unproven, yet the kid in Hersey, Phillipe Sauve, looks sweet, with great form, size, speed and talent. I've gone to see the Bears play many times last year in Hersey and Wilkes-Barre, and I believe he will take the reins for the starting job by mid to late 2003-2004. As for defense, what happened to Morris, Skola, Devries (may be lost to free agency) and the kid D.J. Smith (who I believe has a great upside). I think you sell this team's defense short, along with the rest of the league. They had a top ten defensive ranked team for the last five years, with 2000/2001 being the best. You are right in that the Wings won't trade with the Avs in goal, yet I hope they let the kids have a shot at it. Remember that once Feb. comes around and if they aren't cutting it, there will be many more chances to get goalies from teams that thought they would contend. And Potvin isn't too shabby for a fill in as far as vets are concerned right now. I'll take the bet on the Avs keeping all 5 to start the year, and NEVER compare the Avalanche to the awful rangers!! Also, look again at your stats, especially Kariya, Sakic, and Tanguay on that assist comment please.

Of course we could debate this all day long but only time will tell. But I'll debate hockey all day long if people are willing and into it. Best sport going.

And remember this scary fact: The last two times the Devils won the cup, the Avalanche won it next. The first cup in Devils history was quickly followed by the first cup in Avalanche history. I hope the trend continues.

I didn't even think of that...that is scary...but the third time is a charm and the trend will be broken
