How did you get #2 Al Sharpton and #3 Pat Buchannan? What did you answer on that quiz, that you're for reparations AND segregation?

That would be a nice presidential ticket though. Their campaign slogan could be: "TWO MEN ENTER! ONE MAN LEAVES!"

I also thought that was a little strange. I guess Sharpton scored high because I support the NAACP (to an extent), I think felons should be allowed to vote once they've served their time, and support the ACLU.

Buchannan, though I despise him, I do agree with on some financial issues and gun control. And isn't he against preemptive war? That might have something to do with it.

I just thought it was an interesting little survey, nothing to be taken too seriously.

Nobody is going to run against the president if the president is a member of their political party. If a Republican wants to run against Bush, he needs to find a new party.

You're trying to apply logic to politics. Stop that.

LaRouche is a self-described controversial international political figure. Perennial candidate and purported political cult leader LaRouche is back for an eighth presidential bid. He was candidate for U.S. presidential nomination of Democratic Party: 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000. U.S. presidential candidate, U.S. Labor Party, 1976.
A high school graduate, and a repeated college attendee, LaRouche calls himself a "world's leading economist". His conspiracy theories have implicated Queen Elizabeth, "British bankers," the Pope, narcotics producers, Jesuits, Yale University's Skull & Crossbones Society, environmentalists, and many others. Originally a Trotskyite political organizer in the Socialist Workers Party in the 1960s, he formed the now-defunct and neo-fascist US Labor Party, then registered as a Democratic in 1979. LaRouche was convicted and imprisoned on felony fraud charges in the late 1980s related to the fundraising activities of his political organization.
LaRouche was born September 8, 1922, Rochester, New Hampshire. He is married:to Helga Zepp LaRouche, a native and citizen of Germany; specialist in Nicholas of Cusa, Friedrich Schiller; founder and Director of the Schiller Institute; political figure of Germany. He was schooled in Rochester, New Hampshire and Lynn, Massachusetts Public Schools; attended Northeastern University during 1940, 1941, 1942, 1946, 1947. Management Consultant, Economist 1947-1948, 1952-1972. Founder: (1974) Executive Intelligence Review weekly; Co-Founder: (1975) Fusion Energy Foundation; Member: Schiller Institute.
LaRouche is the author of " So, You Wish To Learn All About Economics?" and "The Science of Christian Economy".
In our attempt to research his positions we found his political agenda is unique, vociferous and convoluted. We welcome any attempts from the candidate, his staff or supporters to clarify them.

That would explain everything. I guess this would be the Democrat's answer to Strom Thurmond. I guess the Democrats will take just about anybody.

BTW, this is my 1000th post. Pretty crappy way to cap it all off.

...George W. Bush, the man who suddenly made lying acceptable for a President.
Really. What did Bush lie about exactly? I assume you, like the Dems, are screaming about the Iraq nuclear issue. Well, have you watched the news recently? Bush didn't lie. He said quite clearly in the State of the Union, which btw is the only instance the Dems are upset about, that the BRITISH were reporting the nuclear link between Iraq and Africa. Nothing more. The British are STILL standing by their report. So what Bush said is still true to this day, isn't it? To recap:

HE DIDN'T LIE TO ANYONE
WHAT HE SAID IN JANUARY IS STILL CORRECT

To say he lied during the State of the Union is in itself a lie. Sorry, but there's no way to pin this on Bush. Talk to the Brits now.

What Bush did was a real cowardly way of using this "intelligence." He said in his speech that "The British have learned that Iraq was seeking uranium from Niger." That way when we find out that the intelligence is bogus, they can (which is exactly what they're trying to do) say its the British fault. And they can hope everybody ignores that the CIA removed this from an earlier speech, and that an ambassador investigating this issue found no support for any evidence.

Now they are saying that there is other evidence besides the forged document. Will we ever see it? No, becuase somebody might find out how bogus that info is too.

So wait. You are saying that Bush purposely gave bad information during a State of the Union speech, knowing that a few months later we would use that to discredit our staunchest ally? That's what you are saying?! What a stunning conspiracy theory you have there. Unbelievable.

Bush didn't lie. There is no conspiracy. He clearly stated, and only the one time, that it was based on British intel. He never repeated it again. Congress had already voted to "approve" war with Iraq when Bush made the statement, so his statement didn't sway any votes. There is nothing here to grasp at, and I know that pisses you off. Still, the Dems will groan and make character assasinations when they are groundless. The CIA approved the speech Bush gave, that's the fact. The British still stand by their intel. You have no arguement, nothing to point at here. Any more comments against the President on this specific issue is pathetic.

When the hell did credibility become meaningless to you!? This is about being able to trust our President in the most grave of circumstances. Even if I were to assume he didn't lie, he was giving the State of the Union Address!!!!! And he said something that he did not have confidence enough in to have the American government vouch for. He said something that earlier was removed from a speech. He was making a case for war and he should have made sure everything he was saying was truthful.

So wait. You are saying that Bush purposely gave bad information during a State of the Union speech, knowing that a few months later we would use that to discredit our staunchest ally? That's what you are saying?! What a stunning conspiracy theory you have there. Unbelievable.

I didn't mention the war, you did. The credibility of our President is a different issue. But its pretty cute the way you tried to drag another issue in here like that. That way, you don't actually have to refute anything I say!

You have no arguement, nothing to point at here. Any more comments against the President on this specific issue is pathetic.

No, I have an argument. This report was refuted nearly a year before by an embassador investigating this issue. He foudn out about the forged documents, and reported directly to Condoleeza Rice. So don't tell nobody knew. In the best possible scenario, this represents a lack of appreciation for the situation. They cared more about making their case than if they missed a few mistakes. This was about going to war. This was extremely serious.

And that's the best scenario. And I don't believe it. This administration has shown complete intolerance to anything that might possibly hurt them, no matter what the facts are. From removing language about global warming from a report to firing an official because his remarks about the huge tax cut were unflattering, they do whatever they can get away with to support themselves, regardless of ethics.

They've turned the executive branch into a goddamned Bush PR machine, and I'm sick of it.

If he planned so far in advance to "cover his ass", then why not say all the intel came from England? You conveniently forget that Congress had already decided to grant Bush war authority (for lack of a better term) prior to the State of the Union. He already had the authority! He didn't have to say anything else to justify what he did, yet you make sound like the ONLY reason we went to war was over some unconfirmable British intel!
I didn't mention the war, you did. The credibility of our President is a different issue. But its pretty cute the way you tried to drag another issue in here like that. That way, you don't actually have to refute anything I say!
That's what I am doing here: refuting what you say. His credibility is only being questioned by partisan Democrats who are desparate to find a way to defeat Bush. It's transparent and pitiful. I'm not dragging any other issue into this. You are saying Bush lied to get us into war, so why try to cloud the issue by saying I am changing the subject?
This report was refuted nearly a year before by an embassador investigating this issue. He foudn out about the forged documents, and reported directly to Condoleeza Rice.
Your "embassador" reported that he didn't find evidence to substantiate claims about Niger helping Iraq. That's it. Show me where he reported directly to Condi. Show me!!! He didn't, by his own admission, so now YOU are presenting false information to us. Hmm...I guess then YOUR credibility is suspect, isn't it? Whatever.
This was about going to war. This was extremely serious.
But again, wait a fucking moment, didn't you belch at me the following:

I'm surprised that John Kerry (who is a Vietnam vet, don't you know) came in ahead of Lieberman, who is the lesser of all of the Democratic evils.

I think that the NAACP question put me over the top. I voted "oppose" with HIGH importance, based solely on their chief's idiotic comments from this past weekend.

And if it was unconfirmable, as you just said, why was it in the speech? Shouldn't we confirm things that are being used to justify a war? Although since you seem to know more about what I say than I do, I guess you could tell me.

I was watching "This Week" on ABC Sunday morning where the host (can't spell his name) asked Rice if Wilson reported to her and she said yes. I can't find a transcript but here's an NBC article that shows that Cheney knew:

MSNBC Article (http://www.msnbc.com/news/936497.asp)

Here's a quote:

Wilson insisted in an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press" that his doubts about the purported Iraq-Niger connection reached the highest levels of government, including Vice President Dick Cheney's office. In fact, he said, Cheney's office inquired about the purported Niger-Iraq link.

So there. But I am glad that the President is being held to the same standards as my message board post. That's nice.

Curious. So is it about war, or is it about credibility? You tell me, since you are the one all upset about it.

It's about credibility. And intelligence should be held to the absolute highest standard when the issue is war. This country very likely would have supported this war if that item was not included in the speech. But if Bush truly didn't know about this controversy, he should have. It certainly seems like a lot of people did know about it. If he did know, he lied. And I thought President's weren't supposed to do that?

Grind your ax somewhere else. Bush didn't do anything wrong here. Sorry, but no impeachment for you!

That's your opinion. And I never suggested impeachment. Again, it just words you are putting in my mouth. But its just amusing that the same group of people who went ape shit about Clinton lying are taking turns being apologists for Bush. Which was the only point of my little smartass comment.

So are Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity, a group of retired intelligence agents, all partisan Democrats?
Well well well...this will be enjoyable!

I direct your attention to the following quote taken from a VIPS "Memorandum to the President" dated February 8, 2003:
...Israel's continuing encroachment on Arab territories, its oppression of the Palestinian people, and its pre-emptive attack on Iraq in 1981 are among the root causes not only of terrorism, but of Saddam Hussein's felt need to develop the means to deter further Israeli attacks. Secretary Powell dismisses this factor far too lightly with his summary judgment that Iraq's weapons of mass destruction are "not for self-defense."
Who's fault is all this then according to these "intelligence professionals"? THE FUCKING JEWS OF COURSE!!!! How enlightened of them.
Here's their "letter" VIPS (http://www.counterpunch.org/vips02082003.html)

This is a radical, and I mean radical group of guys who have no more credibility than I do. They operate out of the Counterpunch.Org (http://www.counterpunch.org/) website, which today includes such lovely, even-handed reporting like Bush aiding terrorists in Columbia, etc. What a great site! Haven't seen that much hate in a while. Honestly, these VIPS guys are most likely fired ex-CIA middle level shits who weren't cutting it. Why else would they so adamantly want Cheney to be fired? Pressure...whatever. Coddled pukes. They are disgruntled liberals who got their feelings hurt because they couldn't do their jobs. And this is who you use to back up your attacks against the President? Why even bother?!

Ugh. Why the gang-up? Can't you all just calm down? Anyway...
Shouldn't we confirm things that are being used to justify a war?
I am not trying to suggest that, had he not said this, we wouldn't have gone to war.

You tell me what you are trying to say. You say in the second one that Bush didn't use the Niger link to justify the war, but in the first one you say we should confirm infomation to justify war. Classic double-speak. Bravo.
Wilson insisted in an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press" that his doubts about the purported Iraq-Niger connection reached the highest levels of government, including Vice President Dick Cheney's office.
That's not Condi's office. Your credibility...POOF!
This country very likely would have supported this war if that item was not included in the speech.
He said BRITISH INTELLIGENCE!!!! Can you understand that? He didn't say ours, he said British. And the Brits STILL stand by it! So who is lying? Not Bush!
And intelligence should be held to the absolute highest standard when the issue is war.

Let's take a time-out here. Do you understand what the Intelligence Cycle is? Do you know how any of it works? Intelligence is not infallable, nor is it usually 100% correct. That's why we have things called "Intelligence Estimates", because we can't be completely sure it's all right. We (the US) backed off the nuclear claims, while the Brits, who have some intel they can't share with us of their own, still claim it to be true. Maybe our intel is wrong here, and there actually is some link between Iraq and uranium procurement apart from the Niger report. Have you considered that? Intelligence analysis is not an exact science, and I should know.
But its just amusing that the same group of people who went ape shit about Clinton lying are taking turns being apologists for Bush.
I say again: Bush didn't lie in that speech. He said British, and that's accurate. You might not like it, it isn't a neat little package that's true, but he was honest.

Hey Hbox, it's all good, ok? We have different views, and that's great. I am looking at both sides here, but I am a realist and go with Bush on this one. Until I see something were he actually lied to the American people, I won't pillory him.

See, now if I did what you did with the letter from the intelligence veterans, where they very clearly criticize the US for giving Israel a "free pass" in all affairs Middle Eastern (A very viable criticism that they simply use a poor example of, the Iraq nuclear strike), but then you try and twist it so that it sounds like an racist attack on the "FUCKING JEWS", well, I could easily twist YOUR statement as to one applauding how the Democrats stuck it to the "FUCKING BLACKS!" Obviously, neither is true, but still, spin CAN be fun.

The letter posted isn't very groundshaking or even the impressive, but it's NOT a racist or anti-semite attack as it was VERY STRONGLY implied.

But other than that, Berg, I mostly agree with you here. The President is taking far too much heat for this. I still maintain that this is just yet another indicator as to how woefully organized and focused our intelligence community is with Middle Eastern affairs (Yes, this came from British intelligence, but it has to go through "our boys" first for verification and confirmation). Heads need to roll and drastic reshaping and restructuring needs to take place. Until then, this is just going to keep happening again and again...

I could easily twist YOUR statement as to one applauding how the Democrats stuck it to the "FUCKING BLACKS!"
Nice to have you back Mojo.

Let's be careful here. I support anyone's non-support of the NAACP. The NAACP is inherently racist, and therefore I am completely against it. I know you're joking with the spin there, but don't construe my distain for the NAACP as distain for blacks. That wouldn't be accurate in the least.

Now back to the topic...

Exactly.

It wasn't what you were saying, but I could have spun it that way. It simply seemed that your first shot at the veteran's letter was the not-very-understated notion that the writers were somehow anti-Jew in their very clear criticism of ISRAEL'S political and millitary actions and the US' almost blanket acceptance of these across the board.

Since I hadn't done the test yet:

1. Bush, George W. - US President (100%)
2. Libertarian Candidate (72%)
3. Lieberman Senator Joe CT - Democrat (65%)
4. Kerry, Senator John, MA - Democrat (59%)
5. Gephardt, Cong. Dick, MO - Democrat (45%)
6. Kucinich, Cong. Dennis, OH - Democrat (42%)
7. Edwards, Senator John, NC - Democrat (41%)
8. Dean, Gov. Howard, VT - Democrat (35%)
9. Graham, Senator Bob, FL - Democrat (29%)
10. Sharpton, Reverend Al - Democrat (28%)
11. Phillips, Howard - Constitution (27%)
12. Moseley-Braun, Former Senator Carol IL - Democrat (21%)
13. LaRouche, Lyndon H. Jr. - Democrat (0%)

Obviously, in looking at the overall averages of everyone who took the test, most of those who took it were Dems.

I took the test and not surprisingly came up 100% for George W. Bush, and that's the problem I have with these types of political polls. They match you up with what the candidate claims to stand for and not what they really do.

As a conservative, Bush has let me down more times than I care to count and seems more than willing to "compromise" with his opposition even though he has the majority in the House and Senate. What he claims is a "new tone" and a "Willingness to reach across the aisle" seems to me to be a lack of leadership.
