This is nothing new. The van is exactly the the same method the Einsatzgruppen used to exterminate the Jews in Poland and points east before WWII. I'm glad they're doing it though, when I was a kid my soccer team's home field was covered in geese grease and I would come home on a Sunday with it all over my legs.

Spring Lake Environmental Commission News : Canadian Geese

Both Spring Lake and Spring Lake Heights have applied for a permit from the U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife, The Division of Migratory Birds, for the eradication of the Canadian Geese at Wreck Pond and vicinity. Should this permit be granted, the geese will be trapped during the months of April and May when they are molting and are unable to fly. They will then be destroyed. The purpose of this action is to improve the water quality at the beach and surrounding area. The Boro of Spring Lake has also applied for Grant 3129H which enables Boro to study Habitat Modification for the geese and other fowl around this area. If we receive the grant, we may be able to create a buffer between man and wildlife.
