Junkies back to WJFK/R&F To Middays?

Junks Back To JFK? - 7/11 - We didn't hear it ourselves, but a DCRTVer says that the Sports Junkies on Thursday were discussing the possibility of returning to WJFK-FM, where they used to do evenings. Last year, the Junks moved from Infinity's WJFK-FM to mornings on co-owned WHFS. However, with HFS PD Robert Benjamin leaving, and more rumblings of change at the alt rocker, maybe the Junks are looking to the safety, and the higher ratings, of their old WJFK-FM evening show. If the Junks return to hot talk 106.7, maybe that station's current evening hosts, Ron and Fez, can be moved to middays. Right now, R&F also do the 11 AM hour, with Bill O'Reilly running from noon to 2 PM. How about O'Reilly moving to WTNT or back to a more powerful WMET? Hmmm.....

ok, wjfk put it's trust in ron and fez. the main reason they are in middays for the hour is to raise up bill o'reillys numbers. so i bet that the junkies will take the midday slot if they came back. there is a surge in listeners to ron and fez lately and they show is growing really fast, remember the ratings for them include the money show form 11pm-midnight. so they have much more listeners than the ratings show. i bet that cam daddy will give them another half year and see how they do....comparitively they are growing alot faster than the junkies.

I know , how about try Ronand Fez in NY. There is a station there called Blink 102 that sucks. They can take over from there and syndicate to DC. I have a feeling the NY listeners would like them.

I'd love to have the Junkies on at middays during O' Reillly's time slot, but Ron and Fez at middays would be terrible.

The Junkies have said the would never come back to WJFK they are getting very good rating in the morings that cobtinue to grow they will probably be number on in mornings in DC in a year I doubt they will come back and I doubt the will take thier old time slot don't get me wrong I'ld love to hear them on WJKF again but it seems unlikely

Oh really? Cause last time i check the junkies arbitron book was 19th in morning drive. Thats really good if your looking to get fired or have a station format flip.

Theyll be on WJFK within months, but most likely at nights. Ron and Fez can produce ratings at any time slot, and they are a great lead into Don and Mike. WJFK knows what its doing.

The last arbitrend showed Ron and Fez at 9th in evenings, thier book was 19th. Slumping ratings, not at all, They are gaining popularity quicker than we could have imagined.

As for the 11am hour before O'Rielly? Ratings booster, if Ron and Fez do bring alot of ratings in from Stern though, its likely they may be moved there to keep the listeners untill Don and Mike Start. WJFK will be a powerhouse station if the junks move to nights and ron and fez to mid-days.

Sounds reasonable. R&F will eventually go to mid-days. Which I wish didnt happen because they are starting to get comfortable in the 7-11 slot down here.

DC, its called demos, look into it. Overall ranks means little, its all about DEMOGRAPHICS. Junkies ARE doing well, although not as well as they would like. They're ranked 19th overall, they're doing much better in their target and important demos.

But they WILL NOT be on JFK within months. Their current contracts expire around Oct 2005 and they have said that they're not going anywhere until then.

Do NOT believe this douche DCRTV. He didn't even hear when they were JOKING about it, I DID. This is like reporting that Fez is getting married June 28th, IT WAS A JOKE.

Junkes were 19th in thier main demographic, the 18-50 something. Thats awful.If a show is 19th in 12+ thats ok, cause noone gives a rats ass about the 12 year old kiddies.

WHFS is a failing station, its in bad shape right now, and wont be an Alt. Rock station for long if it stays like this. It may flip formats, and if it does that contract the Junks means shit. Theyll be back on WJFK in about 6-9 months, cause WHFS probably wont survive that long, and if it does, then infinity is losing money.

I'm going to need proof that the Junkies are 19th in their main demo. I have heard them say they are doing great and 19th is not great, so please show me they are 19th.

HFS is big in B-more, and its ratings have been at these levels for a while now, I don't know why NOW its in trouble.

Poo is right, WHFS does decently in it' hometown of Baltimore, and they've basically flat-out said that they've "given up" on DC ratings since both they and DC101 are owned by the same company and both stations have essentially the same format. While ratings-wise a jump to WJFK makes sense, I just don't see it happening because the Junks made such a HUGE deal about being so much closer to their homes now and how great a move this was, and I just don't see WHFS flipping formats with it doing fine in Baltimore.

Though you're right...if the Junks came back at nights and R&F went to middays, the station would have the potential to be monstrous. And though the day-callers usually suck, R&F rule the school in any timeslot.

No shit? Damn, that ticks me off...I was excusing the fact that each station basically became a copy of the other solely on the idea that I thought they were owned by the same company.

But that idea I was talking about how they had "given up on DC" I read from an article a few months back about DC radio in the Post. I had just assumed that it was because DC101 and WHFS were both owned by the same company. Not really a wild assumption these days.

Dcrtv.com has the rating and the Junks were infact in 19th place. They stink!! They are 30+ year old men who are desperately trying to appeal to their 12 yead old audience. Their Juvenille act and their poor treatment of women has gotten old. I was pissed when R&F replaced them, but now I would not have it any other way.

Ya, I am sure HFS does not care about dc. In fact, they care so little that they took a show that was number one rated in DC and moved it to their station. Could management have been hoping that the DC audience would fallow and that the show would catch on in Baltimore?

Junks are 19th place overall, but not in specific demos.

HFS DOES care about DC, the Junkies' bonuses are all based on DC ratings and none on B-more ratings.

ANYWHERE, this is all moot, the Junkies said today on their show that they're not going back for at least 2 and a half years and probably not then either.
