Is "shock" talk radio dead in NY?

With the recent removal of talk radio host Michael Savage from MSNBC and WABC and Howard Stern's alleged retirement in a couple years, does anyone think that "adult" talk radio is dead? O&A basically shut down a whole format on their own and put infinity on egshells regarding adult content.

I thought that there might have been a chance for Ron and Fez to come back to NYC, but I think that the shock radio era is dying out in NYC.

He has a niche and works it well for his audience. If you're going to compare him to Stern or the like...it's an apples/oranges comparison. He's normally not my cup of tea but I will listen if he has a good guest on.

Savage is great! And he's a smart man. He has a PHD in Medical Anthropology. And I thought what he said on his MSNBC show, was funny. And if you haven't you should read his book. He's a real intellectual down to earth guy.

I enjoyed him, but I always wondered why the hell he was screaming so loud into a mic? His stories of his life were good, but when he gets into the rant about his damn book, I got really irritated.

You know, Ron and Fez aren't really that shocking. The show is mainly about current events and the minutia of life. The only real "shocking" aspect of the show is how they treat the staff (well, that and their colesterol count).

I dont think NEW had any shock jocks. They did what they did to be funny or entertaining, not to shock.

Anyway, Imus is funny but its not shock style atall. I listened to him sfrom age 10 til I left after high school and just started listening again when Ferrall got canned. The show is funny when its supossed to be funny. its not always supposed to be funny though.

See, we're not the ones who consider them shocking, but these little interest groups who like to burn any little celebrity at the stake count anything as shock radio.

You may find Ron and Fez tame, but Ron does make refrences to abortion; and if they wanted to, some christian group could write letters to the FCC and try to get Ron and Fez fired.

Don and Mike may also be considered tame, but even if Don says Bitch, some women's group may want them off.

And let's not even get into O&A. "Guess what's in my pants?" (among a ton of other great bits) They were walking on a minefield long before the St. Pat's incident!

I think the thing I LIKED about Ron and Fez was they weren't "shocking," even when they talked about stuff like abortions. Stern is so phony I can puke, and the problem I always had with O&A was that there show was so harsh on the ears, I couldn't listen to it.
