Well my boy, I guess you could be my son for the night if need be.

Well it is about time we had an official night out with the boys. Now DC people do not screw this up it is a Friday night and we should have a great turn out. I put in an email with my boss to get the night off. So hopefully I will be there.

Bethesda use to be a joke in the DC area ("Putting the DUH in Bethesda..."), but in the last 5 years has become one of the weathiest communities in the country.

It's not what you think. It's a really huge place...like an adult arcade/playground with lots of arcade games and pop a shot type machines. Other JFK shows (The Junkies) have had remotes there.

August 1st is going to rock. As a NJ listener for years (BAC 6224) and a MD resident now, I'm glad to be attending the first real DC event. Besides, Bethesda is a nice place, essentially the larger
Red Bank-ish place in MD.

My wife and I are thinking about going to see R&F on the 1st. I would like to know from the D.C. crowd how far is D.C. from Dave & Busters? I need to know if I can get a hotel in D.C. and take car service to the show and back? Or where can I stay closer to D&B without having to drive back from the show. I plan on having refreshments.

There are tons of hotels in Rockville and Bethesda which are very close to Dave and Busters. From that area you are only about 8 miles or so out of the district in a good area and it will not take you very long to get into the city. Dave and Busters is located on Rockville Pike rt 355. I will look when I get to work for some hotels right in the general area.

There are hotels in the area ranging from 51.00 per/night (red roof inn) to over a hundred. Go to one of the travel sites and look for a deal. If you need help with directions let us know someone down here will help you out.

I might be able to arrange with my parents so that me and my sister can get down to DC. I was thinking of going Thursday, but my mom told me that she needed me to come with her to connneticut to film somthing, so I cant leave then. If my mom lets us go, we'd leave friday morning, and probably stay over saturday, sunday, and monday night, and I might possibly email ron and fez and try to see if I can get in studio monday.

Of course, this is all depending if I can go to DC on friday.
And if I do, I'd need someone from the board to lead us in at Dave and Busters because my sister is only 18 (do they ID?)

I get to be lame and alone like SatCam.

Turns out the toothache I've been having for over a week now is due to a bigass cavity right in the middle of one of my two remaining wisdom teeth, so I'm getting those bad boys yanked out on Thursday. Based on how I was after the first two were pulled, I don't think showing up doped up, drooling and with my face swollen will be the best idea.

Unless that's how looked AFTER I left D&B's. Then it would be perfectly normal.

So DC'ers, enjoy your first event, and I hope all the NYC/NJ'ers coming down have something at least close to all the great times you had with R&F back home.

I think that Holiday Inn in Bethesda is Metro accessible -- which means you are three stops away.

Bring your own stick, I am not sure of the skill levels of the players. We dumbed down the rules to make it easy for players of all skill levels.
Make sure you are there by 6:30 I am going to go over the rules and make sure everyone has signed all of the waivers so we can start at 7pm.

Dave and Busters is a fun place - whoever described it as being Chuck E. Cheese for grown-ups is totally right. And, if you bring a handful of ibuprofen to counter the crowds and the noise, the "midway" can be a lot of fun (and quickly becomes expensive.) I live less than a mile from White Flint. I'm not great with crowds, but it would be fun to see the guys and watch the pool (and eat those little weird mini hamburgers they serve there.)

I hope some of the folks from alt.fan.don-n-mike will be there to support Ron and Fezzie! (Ron and Fez are consistently more funny than the old boys these days - funnier and smarter!)

White Flint is incredibly metro-accessible. KOP - you described Bethesda as having only become shi-shi-ville in the past five years. I live on the wrong side of the tracks in Bethesda - it's been one heck of a wealthy suburb for at least the 10+ years I've lived there! (I am SO not Bethesda.)

There is a motel directly across the street from White Flint Mall - Park Inn and Suites. According to their website, they have rooms for $79 tonight (super saver rate) - although their banner shows the possibility of an even lower rate of $59/night, including continental breakfast. It's by no means a ritzy place by anyone's standards, but it is staggering distance from White Flint - you can see the lights of Dave and Busters from the motel entrance. (Red Roof Inn is a 15-minute cab ride away, at best.)

I had a blast last night meeting everyone from the board last night. I am sorry if I did not have a lot of time to talk to everyone, but I think everybody had a great time. AJ thanks for all of your help with the pool tourney last night;you are the man. It was great meeting some of the people from NY/NJ Mike the teacher, Chairman, Toocute, Katie, Stickyfingers, Mikeyboy (thanks for helping Courtney out last night), cybersoldier. If I forgot anyone else from NY I am sorry I am horrible with names.

To everyone who participated in the pool tourney thanks for playing and I hope you had a fun time competing. Sticky you almost had that baby 1 ball shy of going home with the prize.

I hope next time we can get more people from the board out to the next event. It was nice to see some new faces Lazlo, Zardoz, and Def Dave. To everyone else I have met before it was great seeing you again.

This event was a huge success and the WJFK management was very impressed with the turnout. So let's make the next one even bigger.

Jake from VA edged out Stickyfingers 2 games to 1 in a best of 3 final.

It was a great time last night -- excellent turnout and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I spoke to Ron briefly and he was very happy with the turnout and crowd. Thanks for coming out and making it a success!

First and foremost, I have to recognize Jafter for helping put this together. You may not be aware but he volunteered a lot of his free time to help plan this event. As a result the pool tourney and everything else went smoothly and successfully. It was a great debut event for R&F in DC and I hope it means bigger and better events in the future.

Thanks also to the WJFK staff for a great job and for being so nice.

In addition to seeing a number of familiar faces (Courtney, Perrynoid and Cherrynoid/Guttersnipe, Rage Cage, and KC from DC), I also was glad to finally meet a number of other people from the board: Chairman, Too Cute, Cybersoldier, Def Dave, Sticky Fingers, Katie, Mike the Teacher, CAPT Clown, Mikeyboy and Yerdaddy. You were all very cool people and I hope we meet again soon. Special props to the NYers who made the trek down -- you made me ashamed for never making it up to NY!

I have only two regrets about last night. First, I apologize for not being able to spend more time hanging with you guys. Second, I missed Fez's touching karaoke rendition of "Harper Valley PTA". His plea of "Mommy! Daddy! Stop fighting!" at the end of the song reminded me of John Lennon's "Mother".
