Why would/should I own an X-Box?

I was just wondering if someone could give me a valid reason to buy an X-Box. I collect video games/consoles, so the interest to buy it could be created...

I own a PC, a PS2 and a Gamecube. Is there a single game that is worth getting that I can't get elsewhere? SW:KOTOR just came out, but the PC version is out in the fall. You could have said Halo, till they announced the PC version for September. Is there anything else to cause me to even want one?

Not at this point. Forget it. You already have all the gaming platforms you need. If you've got a good PC, no need for an X-Box. Plus, it's kinda late. PS3 and GameCube 2 are already in the works.

There is Halo 2. Apparently it looks really good. I never really liked Halo, and I feel like the only person on Earth who feels that way.

Other than that, I really don't know. It seems like all their "exclusives" either are eventually available either on PC or Playstation 2. If you have patience, I see no reason at all to buy an XBox.

They certainly don't have a Metroid Prime or Zelda. Or Resident Evil. Or Eternal Darkness. Or Grand Theft Auto. Or Final Fantasy.

there is really no reason to get an X-Box unless you play sports games, the fighting gam,es suck and all the rest gets put also on PC. the only thing it has is the sports games, they look damn good on x-box

i cant stand xbox simply cuz of their controllers. its the most retarded thing anyone has ever come up with.

and i dont see a need to buy it. other than the new star wars game nothing has made me want it. halo is a reason but if metroid ever goes multiplayer who the fuck needs halo? but if ur an RPG fan u might want to look up the new game, Fable. its very impressive, but its not square so i have my reservations.

Yeah, Fable looks cool, they've been showing it for about a year now... and Halo2... eh, another FPS. I'll get Halo for the PC, but we all know Half Life 2 will own all.

Nice to see no one can give me a reason why I'd want an X-Box. :) I'll buy it when it's under $50 and outdated. :)

Since Halo 2 will most likely come out for PC too, I can't really think of any exclusives that are must haves.

The only good thing is that it's the best online console.

The only cool thing I heard about that you can't do on a PS2 or gamecube is add your own music to games. Since it has a hard drive and takes full CD's you can put your music in some games.

If you can live without that, fuck XBOX.

Or just do like Grim Sanity did and look for a cheap one used on Ebay. I remember he told me he got a great deal.

ok thats a bullshit statement. square will b releasing 3, count it, 3 games in the 3months. final fantasy: crystal chronicles for cube, in november. the first ff that will b multiplayer. then ff x-2: the first the true sequel to final fantasy, in december. and if its as good as ffx it will b an amazing game. and finally, the already mentioned ffxi, on january 6th '04. the first mmorpg in the ff series. this game will revolutionize mmorpg and make everquest look like a game for pussies. square is still the best game manufacturer on the planet.

big fuckin whoop it'll connect pc and ps2 gamers. most serious pc mmorpg players wont even give ff11 a second look. it wont reach anywhere near the 450k subscribers that Evercrack has. and theres nothing new about translating commands to other languages. Sega's been doing that for the last couple of years now. i dont even have to bother telling you how unrevolutionary it is to add an hd to a console.

see if u dont it, fine. but say that u dont like it. dont say square hsant delivred. theyve given us the greatest sound tracks to games and a constant basis. their grafix have always been top of the line. look at the cut scenes from ffvii and theyll stand up against any cutscenes for any ps1 game. and as always epic stories that sweep u into the gameplay, so much so that u feel sad when aeris dies. and a wierd feeling when tidus hooks up with yuna in the lake. and happiness once zidane comes running out of no where and sees garnett.

square has story driven games. and all of their stories are amazing. and the gameplay is amazing. they keep the menu battles interesting. they amaze every time i summon ifrit for the first time. and all the twists and turns from beginning to end all add up to epic stories. and the sidequests and minigames in each just allow u to take a break from the story and have fun, in other ways.

square games have the emotional content of a Bay/Bruckheimer movie. they FORCE emotion and sentimentality. everything about square in the 32-bit generation and on has been overdone and overdramatic. and the soundtrack credit belongs to Uematsu and Mitsuda, not square.

well XBox has that now. I've played PS2 very sparingly, but I just don't think the graphics are as good as they are on X-Box. Some people on the board feel the opposite way, so it's just a matter of preference. If you already have a PS2 I wouldn't buy an X-Box.

GTA3+GTA VC= $30 PS2
No argument from me, but there's absoultly no reason to buy that for XBOX if you have PS2.

Anyway, my reason for posting was to say that XBOX probably has the best interface for going online and playing online, that was probably PS2's biggest mistake. If Sony can just perfect that, the next PlayStation would be the only console needed to buy.
