Batman done right (http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=15693)

Here's an article about a Batman short film that was just made by a bunch of film pros who wanted to do Batman the right way. I need to see this short first, but if I were to judge just by the pictures, I'd say this beats all of the other Batman films. The Batman suit looks a little cheap (because its an independent film), but is this not EXACTLY what the Joker should look like:

Holy BANG, this is beyond perfect.

And I LOVE the Batman costume. Where'd that faggy rubber shit come from in the first place? This looks EXACTLY like Batman whenever he's painted by Alex Ross.

ARONOFSKY, listen up and get these guys, NOW.

And here's how Ross has always painted him...

Ok, don't get me wrong, Jack as Joker was great. his role was perfect, however the way the joker looked was off. with this, the joker looks as he does in the comics which is truly classic. i'm only going by the pics that are up in the thread because i have a crappy connection

the suit, or the guy in the suit, doesnt look right. the joker, on the other hand, looks great. he kinda looks like martin landau in Ed Wood.

Actually, Chris Nolan (of Memento) has the best shot now of making a new Batman flick.

Aronofsky's Year One project is currently dead in the water.

Unofficially, Christian Bale has been considered for Bats (a good bit of casting if they can land him, IMO), and Scarecrow may be the frontrunner for villain. The Nolan film would be a restart to the franchise, possibly leading to another film featuring Bats vs. Joker.

From filmforce.ign.com

I'm not sure if most of you heard by the studio execs wanted Asthon Kutcher as Batman.

Chris Nolan doesn't want him and he has a few months to find someone else.

A source over at Dark Horizons has chimed in with the supposed inside scoop on what may happen next time Batman hits the big screen. According to the site's scooper, Ashton Kutcher is the studio's top pick to put on the Bat-suit, but director Christopher Nolan disagrees. Nolan reportedly has until late August/early September to find another actor and he's planning to screen test a number of lesser known actors who are in their mid-to-late 20s. And what of the rumors that Guy Pearce was interested in the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman? DH's source says that probably won't pan out.

This was basically a Fan Made film. Director trying to get something going. If Warner Brothers cared about Batman, they'd let him do the next film.

Batman suit looks a little cheap, but not that bad, they just need to hide the seems a bit.

For my money, easily the best one was the original--- the one made in the 60's.

I saw the film tonight. It's really good, but I thought the extra villains were unnecessary. The Batman/Joker stuff was classic.

I don't want to post who the other villains were and spoil it, but I wish they'd kept to Batman villains.

I just saw it (Thanks Jon!) and I must say this has been overhyped. The look of the film is awesome and any film WB puts out should mimic it, but the film itself blows. The first 3 minutes are good, but then it just gets fucking weird. And, after seeing the other characters in this film, I don't see why they couldn't get a batsuit that didn't look like pajamas.

The twist just distorts the whole film, and all of a sudden it doesn't feel like a Batman movie, but a movie guest starring Batman. It's almost as if Batman and the Joker stumbled into something much more bigger and important, and they are just fodder. I didn't like that at all. I thought they were going for a Killing Joke kind of ending, and that couldn't be more untrue.

So just be forewarned that you might need to lower your expectations a bit.

And also I was puzzled as to why they casted Will Ferrel as Batman.

Saw it (Thanks to www.theforce.net) and I agree with HBox

The "other characters" really pull you out of the mood of this "Batman" Film. And the story line (and music) was just ripped off from other sources.

I think this was just a showcase to show off the talents of some comic/movie fans who'd like to work in Hollywood. If they get a good writer, they'd make some GREAT films!

And Will Ferrel rules with More Cowbell!

Absolutely. If you want to make a film showing how to do Batman right, just keep it Batman. Once the focus was off of Batman vs. Joker, it just got stupid.

Unless www.imdb.com is steering me wrong, the actor who is playing the Joker is none other than the guy who played "Boner" on the Alan Thicke/Kirk Cameron sitcom..."Growing Pains"!

But wasn't he played by Curtis "Booger" Armstrong in those OnStar commercials a year or two back?

He sure did! And in "Batman: The Animated Series" he was voiced by Luke Skywalker himself - Mark Hammill.

Actually Mark Hammill was the voice of the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series. He was also the Prankster in the Flash television series.

I know. If you refer to Mojo's post re: Booger, Curtis Anderson portrayed the Joker in the commerical. I was tying my Hamill quote to his Booger quote.

I posted this file on foundry for temporary hosting. It's pretty good. I thought the use of the Alien and Predator characters, as a technical exercise, was excellent. As for plot, there was none, so who cares what the did for the film. It was a practice run for what I think with a little extra money would be a great Batman flick.

I completely agree, this movie is great. Well worth the download to see if you're a fan of Batman. I liked everything about it, from the Batman costume, the Joker, to the fight scene with the Predator, etc.

I'd definitely go to see this at the movie theater if they made a full version movie of it.

Hot damn, that thing is great! Nice work, Jeff...

Yeah, and this was clearly just an attempt to see what the creators could pull of visually, and in that regard they succeeded tremendously. Anyone looking for an actual plot was probably a bit confused...
