planning a trip for the beginning of august, and wanted to get some advice on the odds and ends. expedia has some good deals for some coll looking casinos/ hotels.

i want the experience to be just short of doing blow with andy dick, hookers, and dying in my hotel room. i don't have that kind of money.

yeah, vegas without money is gonna be no fun. assuming you were joking however: Best steak: Smith and Wollensky--ask to be seated upstairs, youll need a reservation. Best club: i forget the name, but it's on top of the Rio casino hotel. it's open air, reasonably priced, and a great view of the strip. pick a clear night. Best luck: (gambling wise) The Mirage for blackjack, Ceasars for roulette. Best strip club: Olympic Garden worst experience at a strip club: Cheetahs
Best buffet: at the Belaggio. It's gourmet and cheap--the food is shockingly good. also--as long as youre out there, plan a trip to the hoover dam. i know, no one wants to do that, neither did i, but i was dragged out there, and i was glad i went. it's a nice cheap break from losing $ left and right.

I'm going in Sept - can't wait!!

The Ra (at the Luxor) and Studio 54 were really hot clubs last time I went. The Beach is also a good bar - lots of hot chicks.

I would also recommend visiting Red Rock Canyon. It's about a half hour ride, and you pay about $15 minutes to get into it, but it's absolutely beautiful. You can get out and hike, smoke a doobie, shag...
definitely worth checking out.

The Steakhouse in Circus Circus is really good.

MGM Grand's buffet is usually worth the money, I never had a chance to do the Bellagio.

Avoid the Slots-o-fun 99 cent 3/4 pound hot dog. That thing will live with you for a week.

The Cheetah Club sucks. If you've ever been to Flashdancers in the city it has the same feel. I've heard good things about Olympic Gardens and The Spearmint Rhino. And never trust the cab driver recomendations. They get a kick back from the clubs.

It's going to be at least 111 degrees during the day. And don't believe that dry heat bull shit, hot is hot.

Go up to old downtown for $2 minimum table games if you just want to hang out and shoot the shit, either the Venetian or Bellagio if you want high stakes games.

And no matter what, always check for an adam's apple and stubble before any money is exchanged, TRUST ME.

You always split your aces and eights, and always double down on 11.

Chris, you are dead on with that. Best steak I have ever had ANYWHERE!

But if he is on a budgey, fugedaboutit.

My favorite place to stay is the Mirage, it is big, but you do not get lost there and the pool is awsome.

I'm going in just under 2 weeks, August 3rd to be exact. 6 friends and I planned the trip a few weeks ago and I was just gonna start a thread about this. So far everything sounds dope, but the thing I wanna check out the most right now is that Red Rock Canyon place.....I bet seeing that shit high is unreal, how's the scenery for taking pictures and shit?

I hate to burst your bubble dingo, but that limo that Leberty is giving you is a short bus (don't forget your hockey helmet!).

Monsterone, I think you can get a great rate on your airfair if you go to www.jetblue.com. I went in May, and only paid $99 each way.

As for a room, like I posted earlier, I am a fan of the Mirage. If you go to www.mirage.com, you usualy can find a room there for around $99 a nite. If that is to much, you can stay at some of the cheaper places (circus circus, stratasphere, etc...) for about $40 a nite.

If you only have $500 to spend, spend some time down town. You can eat and drink cheap there and you can find real low stakes gambling there. The bus runs up and down the strip every ten minutes, and only costs $2.

Have fun, I love the place, you will too. Everyone loves that place, except those church faqgots who got O and A thrown off the air, but don't let me get started on that.........

Im going to vegas aug14th-18th and I went there last year. If your looking for a cool looking casino with a moderatly cheap price I would check out the luxor. It is generally around 89-99 a night during weeeknights. But getting a room so close to the date will probably mean the prices are going to be higher. As for more info you should check out this Las Vegas Messageboard (http://pub50.ezboard.com/blasvegastalk). I go there a lot and it has tons of advice on what to do and what deals there are. Any other questions you can email me.

But if youre looking for really cheap hotel, you probably want to go to the downtown section. And as for flights the only way you will get a flight under 300 now is if you get one that is overnight or has a few connections.. I have a monring departure both ways And i got it a couple of months ago and it was 350.

short buses are fun they have tasty windows and as long as i don't have to drive around an air port i don't care limo or bus mean i am not driving and gives me more prime drinking time with no driving

I just got back a couple of weeks ago. I stayed at the Venetian, which is beautiful, but a little on the pricey end. Actually, now is the cheap time of year to go, especially if you fly out there on the weekend and come back during the week. Check out lasvegas.com for more ideas on hotel stays. When it came to gambling, I had the most luck at a blackjack table at Treasure Island.

The club on top of the Rio is called Voodoo Lounge, and you should check it out - it's outdoors on the 50th floor of the hotel. An amazing view of the city at night.

Smith and Wollensky is awesome, but expensive.

As far as strip clubs go, Crazy Horse Too is the place.

And everybody says that the pool at the Hard Rock is the place to hang. I didn't go, and I'm not even sure you can get in if you're not staying there. But I hear it's pretty wild.

I love Vegas!!! First thing you have to do is decide how much you want to gamble and to expect to lose every penny of it. If you can't part with the money don't step into the casinos.

Since you are on a budget don't go to the bar and drink it will cost you money, go sit at a slot machine and the waitresses will bring you drinks for free. If you want to gamble cheaply go to the downtown area or the local casinos. Circus, Circus, Lady Luck, Palace Station, Stratosphere, etc. they all have cheap tables $2 - $5 blackjack, craps, roulette. Make sure you get comp cards and most of the casinos will have free coupons. Free drink at the bar, free ace at the black jack table, free deck of cards at the gift shop. Just remember that you are not going to walk away with a lot of your money.

Have fun and watch your money.

Here are some sights.

Vegas is alright. I go at least once a year and get together with freinds from Los Angeles.

Luxor has the yard margarita which will get you a nice buzz for a while.

Check out the Blue Man group show it was awsome.

Even though I am not a HuGH Star Trek fan the Star Trek ride at the Hilton was amazing. They even have the actual costumes and props used on the shows as part of the exhibit.

Like Jennitalia said Definatley go to the Beach club . It is a locals club and it rocks. We go around 9:30 pm even though its reaally early because no one is there and there is no cover charge until 10 pm.. By 10:30 the line is around the block and the place is packed. Really hot chicks> when we went I was doing shots off some chicks stomach. :)

Enjoy

Yes I am also going this year in October 11 - 15. So far we have 12 people coming in from NY and Los Angeles.

just got back and all i have to say is NICE! and though i went there with a budget, mastercard supplied a lot of fun through the week. tried to get tickets for last comic standing, but the cancelation line just didn't workout. saw george carlin and he rocked. gambled, drank, the whole gamut, all over town. but i tried to make it to every trill ride in vegas; here's my summery:

nyny- lasted the longest and reminded me of a wooden coaster (herky-jerky), but did loops and cork-screws (4/5) $12

hilton- fuck that. $30 for a virtual ride. $60 for the twins would be a better ride. star trek (0/5) $30 hilton sisters (5/5)

circus circus- indoor, short, kinda fun. $5 (but was too distracted)
bungy jumping outside, thought i could make it in time, but didn't happened $55

sahara- speed the ride, possibly the best in vegas. like batman & robin, the forward/ backwards style, but longer and easy to scam for anther ride if they don't take your ticket (5/5) $9

stratosphere- i really hate heights and got really freaked out but the open glass over looking the valley at the top. high roller sucks and is really boring, but they upsell you the whole way up. $3 for a re-ride or the other ride- big shot was insane. more intense then the anticipation for the incline on nitro. ($8 + $4)first ride, $3 second. high roller (1/5) big shot (5.5/5) $14

ran out of money before i could get to the indoor skydiving place. $55 for 3 minutes, but $15 a person for 15 minutes.

thanks for the advice prior, and hope any of this helps.

I just got back as well and it was probably the most amazing 6 days of my life. I had the most incredible time. I also saw Carlin and the man is just an absolute genius, he made the 2 hours that i was sober a very enjoyable expierence. The clubs/bars out there are off the fuckin hook, Coyote Ugly, Ra, Ghostbar, Skins, Rum Jungle, House of Blues, etc. all really sick ass places. I had a great time and I'm already starting to save up so I can go again in December.
